Job Description

About Us: We are PEC, a family of professionals that exists to energize communities, shape the future, and guide the way. Our work takes us across the nation and around the world to design an increasing variety of projects from highways to hospitals — water towers to wind turbines — stadiums to sidewalks — and everything in between.

Position Overview: We're seeking a motivated Junior Computer Programmer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work closely with senior developers and process managers to contribute to the development of software solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about software development and eager to grow their skills in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the development team and process managers to contribute to software solutions.
  • Assist in the analyzing, writing, building, and deployment of software under guidance.
  • Support the end-to-end lifecycle for the production of software and applications.
  • Integrate third-party software components through APIs and connectors.
  • Work with innovation teams to support change initiatives.
  • Contribute to building features and applications with mobile responsive design.
  • Support in managing databases and applications.
  • Assist in creating security and data protection settings.
  • Assist in developing dynamic intranet and internet websites and other interactive elements.
  • Participate in software testing to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and data analysts to improve software optimization and streamline processes.
  • Assist in finding, cleaning, and integrating data into usable insight dashboards.
  • Support troubleshooting, debugging, and upgrading software.
  • Assist in writing technical documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or relevant field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in software development or relevant internships.
  • Basic understanding of desktop and mobile application development.
  • Familiarity with common stacks is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of front-end languages and libraries (e.g., HTML/CSS, JavaScript, XML).
  • Basic knowledge of back-end languages (e.g., C#, Java, Python) and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, React).
  • Familiarity with databases (e.g., SQL, MySQL) and web servers (e.g., IIS, Apache).
  • Exposure to UI/UX design concepts.

Additional knowledge of Fortran, R, JSON languages, BIM software, and Autodesk Platform Services a plus.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, age, marital status, pregnancy, genetic information, or other legally protected status.
