The Reporter will work closely with the editorial team to report on events, investigate stories, and interview relevant individuals.
Responsibilities include researching and developing news stories, attending events, establishing contacts within the community, and collaborating with the editorial team to produce engaging content.
The Reporter should possess a range of vital skills and qualifications, including:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey stories clearly and accurately to their audience.
- Research skills to dig into details, verify facts, and uncover new information that contributes to the depth and accuracy of the story.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with sources and contacts, and to conduct interviews professionally and empathetically.
- Time management skills to handle multiple stories, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to breaking news situations.
- Critical thinking skills to analyze and interpret information, discern fact from opinion, and present complex issues in an understandable way.
- Awareness of ethical journalism standards and legal boundaries, ensuring all content is fair, accurate and legal.
- Knowledge of various recording and editing software platforms for news gathering and content production
- Minimum 1 year experience in a newsroom or reporting environment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Reporter or other relevant role
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods
