Junior R&D Chef

$70,000/yr - $95,000/yr  On-site  Full-time
We’re looking for a Junior R&D Chef to be the newest member of a team that is transforming the restaurant industry. At Salted, we’re building the next generation of fast food / fast casual brands all across the country, with a focus on better-for-you cuisine that's delivery and take-out only!

WHAT YOU’LL DO


In this position, you will help drive culinary excellence as we conceptualize and launch new brands inside our test kitchen in Los Angeles. As a digital-first restaurant group (meaning, our business is delivery and takeout only), we operate multiple brands at once inside each of our kitchens!

 

  • Collaborate with our Senior R&D Chef to develop new recipes and processes that meet our high standards of quality, nutrition, and scalability.
  • Work inside our test kitchen as we pilot new brands and menus (effectively, acting as a Sous Chef for weeks or months at a time).
  • Serve as a leader inside the test kitchen and teach others new recipes as we launch them
  • Collaborate with kitchen team members on inventory, sanitation, and supply chain protocol
  • Oversee food preparation in the weeks following any new brand launch, ensuring all recipes are executed to the highest level of quality and presentation.
  • Report back to our Senior R&D Chef on execution and training issues inside the kitchen
  • Develop new recipes or processes based upon operational challenges and opportunities
  • Help us build tomorrow's most beloved restaurant brands!


WHO YOU ARE


The ideal candidate is extremely detail-oriented, is comfortable working both inside and outside the kitchen, and wants to help build a company that impacts millions of people’s lives.

 

  • Based in LA.
  • Minimum 3 years of cooking or R&D experience
  • Proficient in kitchen operations
  • Eager to work hard and motivated by career growth!
  • Strategic and innovative thinker
  • Highly organized and able to juggle multiple tasks with changing priorities
  • Wants to work in an extremely fast paced, data-driven environment with ambitious goals
  • Passion for better-for-you food and building something great!
