Job DescriptionRothe is seeking a Junior Radar Technician for the Wallops Flight Facility in support of NASA.
This is an on-site role located at Wallops Island, VA 23337.
Junior Radar (NASCOM) Technician
- Demonstrate an understanding of telecommunication and electronics fundamentals.
- Ability to understand NASA Tracking Data Communications (LTAS, MDDF, TLE and IRV) formats and distribution methods.
- Basic ethernet configuration knowledge including cable and patch panel fabrication and testing.
- Basic understanding of various 2 & 4 wires (data/voice) bridges, amplifiers, and modems, both synchronous and asynchronous
- Capable of understanding of Wallops Command System operations and architecture
- Ability to understand Wallops slaving systems topologies, concept of operations and systems architecture.
- Ability to learn and use the various Software applications and System User Interface applications. i.e., MOVE, Net Acquire, RAPSII, EDRS, Stancil Voice Recorder, WADAT
- Operating knowledge of legacy UNIX, DOS, and Windows based operating systems.
- Willingness to travel up to three months a year in support of launch operations at various locations including Alaska, Norway, the south pacific and others.
- Work on various types of fixed and electronic command and control equipment and related devices by performing one or a combination of the following: operating, installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, construction, and testing.
- Able to interpret and troubleshoot software code in multiple legacy languages.
- Able to perform preventive maintenance and health checks on Data Quality Mission computer systems.
- Work from engineering drawings and specifications and utilize a thorough knowledge of the operating characteristics and circuit design of the various electronic and computerized instrumentation systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot PC systems hardware, software and operating systems including replacing components.
- Ability to process DQ data from all received data sources (tracking sites) and process all tracking data for launches.
- Generate each mission’s Parallax Look Angles and INPs for tracking assets.
- Apply technical knowledge to accomplish fault isolation and maintenance of systems.
- Ability to configure data and voice circuits per mission requirements.
- Ability to interpret schematics and system drawings.
- Knowledge of test equipment operation for such items as Bit Error Rate Test sets, transmission test sets, data analyzers, function generators, multi-meters, and oscilloscopes
- Perform manual tasks, which may include lifting 40 lbs. or more. Ability to work at heights on occasion.
- Skilled with PC operations, configurations, and ability to troubleshoot problems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance
Candidate is required to follow company and NASA procedures and policies Safety, quality awareness, and compliance are required. Shift work may be required at times as mission schedules are dynamic. Foreign and domestic travel may be required. A valid U.S. passport will be required for this position.
Education:
Two years of technical education/associate degree in electronics related field or relevant military technical training
