THE POSITION
Are you seeking challenging and meaningful work on a world-class private markets investment team? Do you have related education or experience in finance, economics, or institutional investing? We are looking for someone to grow within the Private Real Estate team while gaining experience across the broader private markets (Private Equity, Private Credit, Private Infrastructure). In this position, you will assist in every aspect of the investment and portfolio management process from strategy, sourcing, and underwriting to monitoring, reconciling performance, and presenting to internal and external stakeholders.

The Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS, www.psers.pa.gov), is an agency in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that administers the pension plan for Pennsylvania's public school employees. The mission of PSERS is to maintain a financially sound System that supports over a half million members with a current pension fund of approximately $72 billion. This position will play a contributing part in ensuring PSERS fulfills its mission and values.
PSERS is located in Harrisburg, PA, a mid-size city situated along the Susquehanna River. Teleworking is optional, with an occasional need to report to the Harrisburg office as operationally necessary. If requesting to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and be located in Pennsylvania. The Harrisburg area is affordable and near many attractions including Hershey, and it is only two hours from major cities and airports like Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position will report to the Portfolio Manager - Private Real Estate supporting the broader Private Markets team in all aspects of the related investment management process, including performance reporting; investment monitoring; and evaluating, sourcing investment managers / co-investments across the Private Markets portfolios (Private Equity, Private Credit, Private Real Estate, and Private Infrastructure).

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree; or
  • Four years performing relevant private markets investment work; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Successful completion of any of the following professional accreditations may be substituted for relevant work experience:
    • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA): 1 year per level passed
    • Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA): 1 year
    • Financial Risk Manager (FRM): 1 year per level passed
    • Professional Risk Manager (PRM): 1 year
    • Certified Property Manager (CPM): 1 year per 4 courses passed (only applicable to Real Estate positions)

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions (located on the position description).

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree
  • One or more years of professional relevant work experience in the investment industry
  • One or more years of professional investment work at an investment bank, endowment, foundation, pension, investment counselor or other allocator of capital
  • One or more years of experience conducting data analysis with programming tools such as R, SQL, and Python
  • One or more years of conducting financial and statistical modeling.
