We are seeking a Junior investigator to examine and assess providers’ compliance related to the No Surprises Act that provides federal protections against surprise billing. This position conducts research and analysis, pulls information, cites regulations using regulatory language, reviews provider documents, and provides complete written reports of Enforcement Investigations of a provider to determine compliance. This opportunity is especially attractive to someone who likes to research legal and regulatory requirements and has an analytical mind.
Responsibilities
- Requests and reviews providers’ documents to determine compliance with the relevant requirements.
- Conducts investigations into potential violations by healthcare providers, insurers, or other relevant parties to assess providers’ compliance.
- Assists senior investigators in gathering evidence, interviewing stakeholders, and analyzing data related to potential violations.
- Collaborates with other departments or agencies involved in healthcare regulation and enforcement of a provider to determine compliance.
- Assists in the preparation of reports and provides recommendations based on investigative findings.
- Drafts complaint summary and findings report for next-level review to be delivered to the client.
- Organizes and supports virtual meetings with providers related to the review of provider documents, investigation, and related findings.
- Conducts regular, timely collection follow-up telephone calls on assigned accounts.
- Maintains detailed records of actions taken on patient accounts and special reports.
- Participants in educational initiatives to raise awareness about patients' rights under the No Surprises Act
Requirements
- Must reside within a commutable distance of Washington, D.C. for initial training
- Minimum of three (3) years post-education work experience in a corporate; Master’s degree in a business or technical field to substitute for 2 years’ experience
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public health, health administration, business, or a related field, from an accredited college/university
- Possess a working knowledge of compliance laws, regulations, and healthcare industry practices
- Possess a working knowledge of health insurance cost sharing requirements for Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance and/or the ability to quickly learn complex information and apply the information to conducting investigations
- Detail-oriented and Strong writing skills
