Junior GIS Developer

We are currently seeking a Junior GIS Developer to support our Survey/GIS Team based in Lancaster, PA or Mechanicsburg, PA offices. As a Junior GIS Developer, you are responsible for continuing the development of our internal software systems, which utilize PostgreSQL databases with the PostGIS extension.If you're passionate about problem-solving and eager to take on a dynamic role within a dynamic team, we encourage you to apply today.

Work Environment: Home/Office/Hybrid.

Responsibilities:

• Continue the development of our internal software systems, which utilize PostgreSQL databases with the PostGIS extension. You will be working with both QGIS plugins written in Python and web applications written in JavaScript (using Vue.js and Quasar frameworks).
• The ideal candidate will have experience in both JavaScript and writing complex SQL queries, as well as a strong aptitude and love for learning. The ability to solve problems independently and make good judgement calls are critical qualities for this role, as is a tolerance for working in an environment where internal software is continuously being improved while production is already in progress.

Requirements

• Knowledge of JavaScript, Python, PostgreSQL databases, Git, and writing SQL Queries
• Perform GIS analysis, database design, interpretation, organization, manipulation, and processing of spatial data using GIS software.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in GIS analysis, database design, interpretation, organization, manipulation, and processing of spatial data using GIS software
• Ability to learn new languages and technologies quickly
• Good communication skills
• Strong attention to detail, quality, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team or individually on a project.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Perform GIS analysis, database design, interpretation, organization, manipulation, and processing of spatial data using GIS software.
• Must be located within one hour of RETTEW’s Lancaster or Mechanicsburg, PA Offices.
