Reports to: Director of Estimating
Job Description:
- Review bid document to determine the extent of the work scope and the support needed from subcontractors and vendors in the preparation of the estimate.
- Contact subcontractors and vendors to secure quotes for the final estimates.
- Providing quantitative take-offs either manually or with QuoteExpress On-Screen for equipment, materials, and fixtures.
- Review and define initial subcontractor work scopes as the estimate is assembled.
- Review vendor and subcontractor quotes for compliance with bid documents.
- Contact suppliers for cost information and material availability.
- Properly secures and prevents access to confidential business materials
- Other tasks and duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
- Able to work at least 8 hours/day, 8 a.m. -5 p.m., Monday-Friday additional hours (including additional weekend hours, as needed).
- Possess strong interpersonal skills (will be contacting vendors, subcontractors as well as, actual and potential clients) and highly accurate and attention to detail including the ability to resolve conflict professionally independently and/or with the assistance of management.
- Strong customer service and negotiation skills (must be comfortable working on bids with multiple parties, including clients, sub-contractors, managers, etc.)
- Communicate effectively in English (orally & written) with others.
- HS Diploma or GED or four-year degree in Construction Management or related field strongly preferred (experience may be substituted in lieu of education).
- Reads diagrams and apply them to real physical set-ups.
- Possess strong arithmetic skills (used for quantitative analysis)
- Basic computer skills: Basic Word, Intermediate Outlook, Intermediate Excel (must be able to do basic formulas), as well as office equipment.
- Excellent time management.
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical and/or plumbing materials and principles, with at least five (1) year of related mechanical/plumbing.
- Must have experience with pipe valves and fittings.
- Must take initiative to work on own, or work with others, as appropriate.
- Reliable and dependable (attendance, timeliness).
- Able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and remain in static positions for the duration of shift.
- Able to lift five to fifty pounds (5-50 lbs.) with or without assistance
- Deals with internal and external customers in a friendly, professional, and ethical manner.
Scope of Work:
- Deals with multiple projects/tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Works under the general supervision of Director of Estimating
- Accountable for completing all assigned tasks accurately and timely.
- May work individually or on teams, as needed.
- Work Environment: Office (possible visits to sites).
