Position Summary: Ensure the facility complies with environmental, health, and safety regulations. Work closely with all departments at all levels to facilitate, lead, and/or assist teams in achieving departmental and plant goals. Support the implementation of improvement activities related to environmental, health, safety, and sustainability. Maintain EHS plant policies and procedures to ensure they remain accurate, suitable, and effective.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative assistance in the development, implementation and maintenance of processes and programs built to assure compliance with existing federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations.
  • Perform routine inspections and sampling to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company EHS procedures including, but not limited to: stormwater, fire extinguishers, AEDs, emergency eyewash/safety showers, flammable cabinets, proper storage and/or disposal of waste, sufficient first-aid supplies in work areas.
  • Perform department-specific safety audits to ensure employees are utilizing safe work practices such as utilizing proper PPE, minimizing trip hazards, wearing fall protection, etc.
  • Assist in the development of EHS training programs and conduct training as needed.
  • Assist in the creation of job hazard analysis and PPE assessments.
  • Assist with accident, incident, and near-miss investigations offering advice and best practices solutions where appropriate. Ensure all incident reports are prepared correctly and factually relevant, accurate, and admissible as a legal document.
  • Implement new or updated internal safety and environmental policies as needed.
  • Support safety and environmental site audit processes.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans.
  • Interact closely with vendors to facilitate completion of EHS plan (including Job Hazard Analyses) prior to site entry.
  • Perform periodic audits of vendors to determine adherence to all required EHS procedures and requirements, and interface with the customer (end users, building managers, facilities etc.) as needed to ensure vendors have the appropriate and necessary contacts and resources for work to be performed.
  • Assist in implementing new worker safety rules and regulations to site personnel and management.
  • Attend Safety Committee Meeting and disseminate pertinent information to shop personnel.
  • Enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety, and environmental sustainability.
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
  • Monitor compliance to policies, permits, and laws by inspecting employees and operations.
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment and demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Other duties may be assigned to assure safe operations, environmental compliance, and to meet the needs of the customer.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Must be operationally proficient in MS Office products. Must be computer literate and capable of learning specialized software packages.
  • Must have the ability to solve a wide range of problems with support from the W Management team on complex issues.
  • Must have the ability to work in a team setting and demonstrate a positive work attitude.
  • Must be committed to continuous improvement in products, services, and processes.
  • Must be a self-motivated/directed individual.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Though infrequent, must be able to be on call for emergency response 24 hours a day for safety or environmental concerns.
Physical Demands:
While performing duties of job, employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Candidate is required to spend approximately 70% floor time, 30% office environment. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the office environment is usually minimal to moderate, however the noise level in the plant requires hearing protection in some areas.
