LMI is seeking a Data Engineer (Junior) to work at a client location at Fort Belvoir, VA. Remote teleworking is allowed.
*This position requires an active DoD Secret Clearance*
Data Engineer (Junior) will work within a small team of Data Engineers to support end to end data pipelines for various Army customers. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the design of end-to-end data pipelines and oversee the build, implementation, and optimization of those pipelines.
- Supporting the design and to oversee the build and maintenance of APIs that interface with external systems to access data.
- Supporting the development of Data Engineering-related architecture documents in appropriate formats.
- Support the development and oversight of System Interface Agreements (SIAs).
- Provide guidance and oversee the creation and management of metadata and data catalogs.
- Assist in the review and assessment of Data Engineering-related technical deliverables, such as data flow diagrams, transformation logic, and data models.
- Support project management over Data Engineering activities to ensure timely delivery in a reactive and agile environment.
- Assist in the review and assessment of Data Engineering-related technical sprint activities against requirements and acceptance criteria of user stories.
- Engage with technical and functional program subject matter experts (SMEs) and key data stakeholders to understand business processes, data requirements, key data elements, data mappings, data protection guidelines, etc.
- Provide support in driving the resolution of data issues that are identified throughout daily stand-ups, demos, deployment of code to various environments, user testing, etc.
- Support Data Engineering-related technical working sessions with appropriate stakeholders.
- Support the definition and development of techniques to ingest, transform, and manage data for supporting functional workflows, analytical use, and external systems.
- Research, analyze, and document various technical approaches (including implementation, benefits, constraints, outcomes, and any associated risks).
- Assist in the development of briefing packages to communicate complex ideas to non-technical customers.
- Assist in proposing alternative designs and processes to manage various types of data using both standard and custom tables and fields.
- Provide recommendations for improvements in data strategies to include changes to governance, integration, and standardization.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in data, engineering, mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, engineering, or other related business or quantitative discipline required.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance Required. Must have at a minimum, an Interim Secret Clearance.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in related field is required (building data pipelines, building and maintaining APIs, coding best practices).
- Must be proficient with at least one programming language (Python, SQL, JAVA etc.)
- Familiarity with AWS products and Mulesoft
- Familiarity with containerization

Desired/Nice to have:
- Proficient in Agile Development and Git Operations
- Experience with US Army enterprise data.
- Experience with data mesh and data fabric principles and implementations
