Position: Junior Cloud Engineer

Opportunity Overview:

Position Details:  

Salary Range: $60,000-$90,000 a year depending on experience and education. This is a full-time exempt position.

This a hybrid on-site and remote position. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance to company offices in Utica and Rome, NY upon start date.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design, development, deployment, and maintenance of cloud environments to support product software development 
  • Collaborate closely with our IT and cybersecurity colleagues to ensure cost-effective, timely, and secure deployment of the environment and its tools
  • Interface with programs across the company in planning and deployment
  • Conduct evaluations and participate in strategy discussions regarding cloud environments 
  • Ensure consistent DevSecOps deployments into cloud environments 
  • Oversee day-to-day information system security operations including hardware and software implementations and company IT functions.
  • Upkeep, monitor, analyze, and respond to network and security events.
  • Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with internal and relevant external security policies and practices.
  • Ensure configuration management (CM) for security-relevant software, hardware, and firmware is maintained and documented in accordance with baseline.
  • Ensure all information system security-related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals.
  • Ensure records are maintained for workstations, software, servers, routers, firewalls, network switches, telephony equipment, etc. throughout the information system's life cycle.
  • Troubleshoot and repair workstations and peripheral equipment on an as need basis to keep staff on-line to perform daily operations.
  • Communicate, implement, and manage a formal Information Security / Information Systems Security Program together with ISSM, who leads this task.
  • Implement and enforce Information Security Policies and Procedures with ISSM, who leads this task.

Education and Certifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in cyber security, computer science, software engineering, information technology, or closely related technical field is preferred but not required. Will consider a candidate with an associate degree in cyber security, computer science, software engineering, information technology, or closely related field.

Nice to have, but not required: DoD IAT Level II Compliant Security+ CE Certification

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should have at minimum an associate degree and six (6) months of professional experience. Will also consider equivalent work experience in lieu of an associate degree. An ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-platform technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP) 
  • Experience working with and supporting Linux systems 
  • Basic IT troubleshooting capability.
  • Experience with script writing, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, Python or other automation/scripting tool.
  • Demonstrated experience with configuring, deploying, and maintaining physical and virtual OS environments.
  • Experience with Active Directory administration, including building, securing, health checks and troubleshooting.
  • Experience using Certificate Authorities (CA) and Public Key Infrastructure
  • Basic network configuration

Nice to Have Qualifications:

  • Experience in SRE and/or DevOps 
  • Strong programming skills in at least one high-level language such as Python, Java, C, or C++ 
  • Experience with micro-service, cloud deployed APIs, and distributed architectures
  • Experience using SDLC and Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) 
  • Conducting IT Audits.
  • Basic knowledge of CMMC regs
  • Basic understanding of RMF (Risk Management Framework)
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard Information Assurance tools such as Splunk and Nessus.

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet and maintain eligibility requirements for, at minimum, Secret access to classified information. Prefer candidates with an active Secret clearance upon application.

Travel:

This position requires is not expected to travel.
