Junior CADD GIS Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:
The GIS Analyst is a professional with 3-5 years of experience.  This individual will work on a variety of Cartography projects and will work under the direct supervision of an experienced professional.  Ideal candidate will be well-organized and detail-oriented with strong abilities in problem solving as well as oral and written communication. Ideal candidate will have both breadth and depth of knowledge sufficient to allow him/her to be a self-starter requiring very little detailed directions, once trained in our applications. Ideal candidate will also be able to quickly adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Preparation of environmental inventory maps, site plans, permit support graphics, report graphics, and plats
• Preparation of customized maps in a timely and effective manner
• GIS Database implementation and maintenance
• Linking datasets, data entry and processing
• Interaction with clients to secure and transmit digital information
• Participation in team and independent based work
• Check discipline-related drawings and documents
• Ensure drawings are in accordance with project scope, client specifications and standards
• Ensure drawings are dimensionally clear, complete and correct

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Minimum 3-5 years of drafting/design/CADD/GIS experience
• Knowledge of current Esri ARCGIS, Autodesk AutoCAD software required
• The ability to utilize/import raster and vector data including digital orthophotos, global positioning data, and geographic information system data
• Experience background in civil design, Cartography and Geography
• Excellent computer skills including practical knowledge of, MS Office and other related applications
• Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple and varied deadlines
• Demonstrated team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative
• Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Experience in data analysis and assist management

 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:       

• Associate Degree from an accredited 2 year school, minimum
• Bachelors of Science Degree from an accredited four-year college or university, preferred

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED

• Application certificates recognized by ESRI a plus.
• GISPs (with exam) a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions. Work requires frequent and prolonged computer use. May occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
