ATS' Global Services team is a dynamic, change-leading team that drives the delivery of value-driven Services to our customers worldwide. Services is a growing component of the overall delivery of value to ATS' customers globally and offers an opportunity for an opportunistic individual to create a well-defined offer structure of high-value service solutions to drive ongoing value. The Junior Buyer is responsible for sourcing and purchasing commodities and sub-contracted labor to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Process purchasing documentation (i.e., requisitions, purchase orders, cancellation forms, continual improvement reports) for all jobs, spare part, and service-related material.
- Track, monitor and maintain purchase order deliveries to drive on-time delivery to production schedules.
- Expedite purchase orders based on input from project teams.
- Review part blueprints: understand type of subcontract work required and choose optimal sub- contract vendor.
- Negotiate prices, discounts, and delivery arrangements with suppliers.
- Identify problems with suppliers regarding costs, quality, quantity and delivery of goods purchased; consult with buyer or senior buyer prior to expediting.
- Keep informed of new sources of supply for materials and services.
- Perform on-going review of product and services to identify new opportunities for cost savings; present to manager for feedback.
- Resolve invoicing discrepancies and approve payment.
- Review historical and other benchmarking data to identify opportunities for competitive pricing.
- Understand the importance of maintaining accurate enterprise resource planning (ERP) records with vendor master, item masters, and fully understand material resource planning (MRP) for full achievement of reporting features tied to supply chain roles. Create a maintenance process.
- Adhere to all International Standardization Organization (ISO) procedures and departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
- A postsecondary diploma or degree in purchasing or related field of study.
- 1 year of experience in purchasing within a manufacturing environment preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, & Excel.
- Ability to read, speak, write, & understand English in a professional manner.
- Strong initiative, innovative, and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills; Experience working with customers to resolve problems
- Ability to interact in a team environment.
