POSITION SUMMARY
Perform the non-production purchasing activity at the site level for supplies involving maintenance, repair and operations. Act as a central point of contact for requisition fulfillment and purchase order placement. Job elements include ensuring policy compliance, managing back order reports, order confirmations, placing orders, new stock requests, managing color match system, supporting cost reduction projects as well as delivering on annual cost savings targets.
JOB DUTIES
  • Identify VMI/Consignment Opportunities - Supportive Selection Criteria
  • Participate in reviewing and settling appropriate replenishment levels in central stores.
  • Meet inventory objectives ($ levels, consignment stores, replenishment lead times).
  • Review purchase requisitions for necessary approvals.
  • Identify qualified source(s) of supply.
  • Issue Purchase Orders, check acknowledgements and delivery of materials.
  • Assure supplier adherence to Purchase Order terms and conditions.
  • Foster continuous improvement in the purchasing process.
  • Aggressively pursue excellence and professionalism in all supplier relationships.
  • Identify opportunity for savings and improved payment terms.
  • Support and adhere to all system procedures and Company policies / procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Follow all safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform clerical duties for department manager and personnel
  • Compose correspondence, notices, memos
  • Support miscellaneous plant purchasing needs
  • Execute effective, results-oriented communication with suppliers
  • Achieve results through cooperation and team principles

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 1-3 years related purchasing or technical experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exhibit confidence and professionalism in all dealings, both internally and externally.
  • Self-motivated and innovative; effective time manager.
  • Able to consistently manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient with basic business computing tools including Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Familiarity with inventory control systems and practices.
  • Minimum Associates Degree or CPM Certification.

Marginal Job Functions
  • Generates monthly reports and data requests.
  • Proactively communicates potential supply interruptions from late deliveries.
  • Attends and contributes to required sub-plant and departmental meetings.
  • Be involved in all aspects of procurement for assigned categories and vendors.
  • Acts as back-up to department personnel as determined by management.

Non-Mandatory Job Qualifications (Not absolutely required, but enhance chance for success)
  • SAP experience.
  • Ability to interpret specifications.
  • Ability to read engineering drawing.
  • Certification in APICS and/or ISM a plus.
