General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work to court judges and administrative staff in day-to-day office operations, receiving and processing incoming calls and visitors, preparing and maintaining records and files, typing a variety of documents, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the assigned judge.

Essential Functions
Acts as receptionist; greets visitors; answers telephone; provides information; forwards calls to appropriate party; assists the public with the completion of standardized records, applications, or documents; directs visitors to appropriate party.
Types a variety of documents including correspondence, lists, labels, reports, requisitions, memoranda, etc., where a knowledge of format and presentation is necessary; checks items for grammatical accuracy and completeness.
Provides information regarding court calendars, hearings/motions, case disposition, and general court operations to legal counsel and the general public upon request.
Assists Court Judges and staff in hearing, motion, and trial preparation.
Enters a variety of data into computer; verifies statistical and other records for accuracy and completeness; enters and retrieves sensitive and restricted information into computer system.
Sorts, indexes, and maintains files; maintains records according to Federal, State, and local policies and procedures.
Assists in preparation of the annual Court calendar.
Operates a variety of standard office equipment; performs minor and preventive maintenance on equipment and requests service when equipment is malfunctioning.
Encourages and promotes a culture of excellent service.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of the office methods, procedures and practices of the Court; general knowledge of laws contained within the Official Code of Georgia; thorough knowledge of applicable court policies and procedures; thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; ability to operate standard office equipment; thorough knowledge of office programs and policies; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with court officials, law enforcement officials, outside agencies, attorneys, associates and the general public.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in office administrative work, preferably in a legal or governmental environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires sitting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Special Requirements
Possession or ability to obtain a Notary Public.
Favorable background history as determined by review of local, State, and Federal records.
