Qualifications:
Required for the SAI (Senior Army Instructor Position)
  • Retired Army Officer for the SAI (Senior Army Instructor) position
  • Bachelor's Degree in a field of choice

Required for the AI (Army Instructor)
  • Retired Noncommission Officer for the AI (Army Instructor) position
  • Associates Degree in a field of choice

Applicants for either position must have an Army JROTC Certification (refer to website __ https://www.usarmyjrotc.com/).
Applicants for either position must have an approved Child Care National Agency and Inquires (CNACI) background inquiry. This is part of your certification with Army JROTC.
Preferred: Teaching experience working with youth groups, and experience in leadership, supply, administration, and drill and ceremony.
FLSA: Exempt
Salary Schedule: Per Approved Salary Schedule

Terms of Employment: 10 ½ Months

Purpose: Assists in providing students with credits in Physical Education and Health needed for graduation. Motivates young people to be better citizens by reducing drop outs and increasing grade point averages. All ROTC instructors are deeply involved in community activities and other social events. Instructors serve as liaison between the Army and civilian community and serve as role models for our youth. Instructors assist in supporting activities such as military balls, cadet competitions, cadet newsletters production, military ceremonies and charitable activities. Instructors devote long hours with Cadets in the classroom with integrated curricular activities.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
  • To "telework" when requested by the District.
  • Attends weekly department meetings for the purpose of discussing student's progress and challenges.
  • Communicates with teachers, parents, US Army and/or appropriate community agency personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing objectives.
  • Implements military science and/or subject specific programs for the purpose of meeting the established guidelines.
  • Maintains classroom equipment, supplies, work aids, etc. for the purpose of ensuring availability of items as may be required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Provides instruction to students, under direction for the purpose of meeting JROTC requirements.
  • Utilizes Joint Unit Manning System (JUMS) for cadet databases and the Army Curriculum Manager (CM) for course instruction.
  • Follows Army Regulation 145-2 Organization, Administration, Operation and Support and Cadet Command Regulation 145-2 Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps Program (A Citizenship and Leadership Development Program) Organization, Administration, Operations, Training and Support.
  • Coordinates with and follows direction from the school district JROTC advisor as directed and as appropriate.
  • Other assigned duties.
