Candidate will work onsite at Aberdeen Proving Ground, located in Aberdeen, MD. Candidate will work independently and in groups within our team of Experimental
and Journeyperson Welders. Independently set up, adjust, modify, and operate all welding equipment and machine operation capacity. Work with materials including mild steel and steel alloys, stainless steel, galvanized steel, aluminum and aluminum alloys. Perform
planning, part layout, parts assembly, blueprint interpretation. Configure heavy items using proper rigging equipment and transition heavy items to and from overhead crane operations to and from forklift manipulation. Install new machines. Dismantle and install machines or heavy equipment when changes in the plant layout are required. This is a union position.

- Schedule: M-F, 9-hrs/day with every other Friday off

Job Requirements
Education:
High School diploma with 3 years' related experience
Job Requirements:
Must possess American Welding Society (AWS) certifications for the following welder performance qualifications:
- D1.1 Structural Steel Welding Code using the SMAW process with an E-10019 or E-7018 electrode and GMAW-P process with an ER-70S or ER-100S
- D1.2 Structural Aluminum Welding Code unlimited thickness in the flat, horizontal, and vertical positions with groove and fillet welds using the GMAW-P process with an ER-4043 or ER-5356 electrode
Must have 3 years' experience in each of the following:
- Using processes including Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC), Oxy-Fuel Cutting (OFC), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Short Circuit transfer Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW-SA), Pulsed transfer Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW-P) and Sub Arc Welding
- Operating a variety of metal cutting, welding and assembly, finishing and inspection equipment, including welding machines, cutting machines and or tables, shears, drill presses, notchers, grinders, and pipe, angle, and channelbenders, etc. Must be capable of lifting up to 75 pounds and wearing personal protective equipment such as respirators and hearing/eye protection.
