Summary/objective
The Plumber will configure, install, fit, and maintain various piping systems, and ensure smooth operation of those systems.
Essential functions

- Plans, prepares, installs, and maintains piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials; systems may include pipes, pressure and vacuum gauges, pipeline filters, steam traps, and strainer valves.
- Consults blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; creates working procedure based on specifications.
- Gathers equipment and materials for the job.
- Welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fits pipes.
- Attaches pipes and piping systems to walls using brackets, bracket systems, or clamps; cuts or bores holes prior to project.
- Installs various types of insulation and pipe covering; safely removes and properly discards of old coverings according to hazardous waste procedures and in accordance with EPA and OSHA requirements.
- Inspects pipes, testing for pressure and leaks; reports and/or resolves problems.
- Coordinates with manager to schedule machinery maintenance, repairs, and installation to minimize disruption to operations.
- Complies with applicable safety and building codes, regulations, and best practices.
- Maintains records, including safety logs and inspection details.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Competencies
- Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
- Ability to use a variety of tools, which may include blowtorches, saws, pipe benders, and welding torches.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Supervisory responsibilities
None
Work environment
Depending on the project, it could be either indoors or outdoors or both.
Physical demands
- Prolonged periods standing and stretching to install and repair pipes and pipe fittings.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds (6.8 Kg) at times.
- Must possess visual acuity required to inspect piping systems and read plans or blueprints.
Travel required.
To and from project sites
Required education and experience.
- Certified Journeyman Plumber for the state of South Carolina
- 3+ years of experience via on-the-job training required.
Preferred education and experience
- 5+ years of trade specific experience
- OSHA -10 certification

Must be able to pass a background check and drug during the interview process.
