Journeyman Lineman And/Or Apprentice Lineman

Clark County REMC is currently seeking a full-time Journeyman Lineman and/or Apprentice Lineman who has completed or who is able to complete a 4-year apprenticeship to join our team of operations. If you would enjoy working on the front lines of our community’s energy needs constructing, installing, and repairing electric distribution lines, working responsibly with a group of others, working outdoors, and serving the community in which you live then Clark County REMC is looking for you.

Clark County REMC, incorporated in 1939, is a member-owned electric cooperative providing service to members living in Clark, Floyd, Scott, Jefferson, and Washington counties in southern Indiana. Currently we provide service to over 23,000 members covering 1,827 miles of energized lines. Our mission is to efficiently deliver safe, reliable electric service to our members.

As a lineman you will:

• Construct new lines, overhead, underground, install transformers, substation equipment etc.
• Maintain overhead and underground lines to assure efficient service to members.
• Climb poles or use truck mounted buckets to reach equipment.
• Perform construction and maintenance duties with skill and interest and to work safely with proper tools to provide for a productive and safe operation.
• Perform hot line work, primary and secondary.
• Communicate effectively with others including crew members, foreman, and management.

You will also need to:

• Show a good-natured cooperative attitude.
• Work well with others as part of a team.
• Be able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Be comfortable with heights and working outdoors.
• Possess a good working knowledge of RUS specifications, rules, and regulations or have the ability to learn.
• Have knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code and general rules for safety and conduct.

Required:

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have completed a 4-year apprenticeship program or be able to successfully complete the 4-year program through Hoosier Energy.
• Must have high school diploma/GED.
• Must meet the residency requirements within 6 months of hire.
• Must be able to meet all physical, educational, and regulatory qualifications of a Journeyman Lineman.
• Commercial Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one.
• Overtime work in all types of weather is required.
