The Institutional Services of the Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance, and Engineering (TFOME) Contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center, Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility in Sandusky, Ohio is in search of an Electrician to perform a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.
Responsibilities
Job duties include, but not limited to:
- Installing and repairing a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, and other transmission equipment.
- Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
- Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
- Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical systems or equipment.
Qualifications
This position requires:
- Completion of a 4-year State approved apprenticeship program with a Journeyman Electricians certificate and 2 years additional work experience; or equivalent journeyman level electrician experience that includes 6 years minimum of hands-on experience in the electrical trade with 2 years of related technical instruction training that is verifiable by training records or certificates.
- Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology; or graduate from a Vocational Trade School program in Electrical Technology.
- Familiarity with basic electrical codes and knowledge of proper use of the NEC handbook.
