Job description

LinQuest is seeking a Joint Exercise/Wargame/Campaign Planner subject matter expert to join our team at Peterson SFB in Colorado Springs. This position requires a TS/SCI clearance on day 1.

The highly-skilled and motivated SME will join a high-performance team to establish and support the Joint Exercise and Wargaming Division in the US Space Command (USSPACECOM) Force Development Directorate. Primary responsibility will be to establish the Joint Exercise Life Cycle for HQ USSPACECOM Tier 1 and Tier 2 exercises, including planning, development, execution, and analysis of joint exercises and wargames, Table Top Exercises (TTXs), Rehearsal of Concept (ROC) drills, and seminars.

Duties and responsibilities are broad in nature and candidates will flex to the needs of the J7 staff:

  • Provide on-site support and assistance to plan, develop, execute, and analyze joint exercises and wargames, establish the Joint Exercise Life Cycle for USSPACECOM Tier 1 exercises, Joint Task Force Space Defense (JTF-SD) Tier 2 exercises, and Combined Forces Space Component Command (CFSCC) Tier 2 exercises, and support all reciprocal events at other Combatant Commands.
  • For each joint exercise or wargame event, assist with the planning, coordination, and support for conferences such as the Concept Development Conference (CDC); Initial Planning Conference (IPC); Mid-Planning Conference (MPC); Final Planning Conference (FPC); and Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) Synchronization Conference (SYNCH). This may require work outside normal hours and locale.
  • For each joint exercise or wargame event, chair planning work groups as determined by the joint exercise or wargame lead planner and Division Chief. Work group chair responsibilities include developing training objectives and design joint exercise or wargame event scenarios to satisfy accomplishment of training objectives.
  • Develop Master Scenario Events and implementers in the accomplishment of training objectives.
  • Assist in the development of the Joint Exercise Control Group (JECG) architecture, manning, exercise concept of operations, equipment requirements and operation, and JECG personnel training requirements for each exercise or assigned wargame event.

 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • US Citizenship and an active DoD Active TS/SCI clearance is required to be considered for this position
  • Ability to use Microsoft products (Word, Powerpoint, and Excel)
  • Ability to be an effective team member.
  • Ability to present briefings and coordinate problems and recommend solutions
  • Ability to identify and resolve challenges at a strategic level
  • Ability to brief/interactive with senior (GO/FLAG) level officer and senior civilians.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate plans between internal and external staff agencies to ensure a coherent effort.
  • Current/relevant space/joint operations exercise, training, wargames and campaign planning/execution background/experience

 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • JTIMS knowledge
  • 7+ years experience with education and training, exercises, and wargames
  • Previous experience on a CCMD, Field Command, Component, or HHQ staff highly desired
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher required; experience may substitute for the degree
  • Completion of JPME I is highly desired, and JPME II is preferred

 

Compensation:

  • Starting salary ranges from $95,000 to $115,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications
