Job Title: Sea Trial Technician

Company Overview:

Yellowfin Yachts is a renowned boat manufacturing company known for producing high-quality watercraft. We are currently seeking a skilled Boat Finisher to join our team and contribute to the final stages of boat production, ensuring impeccable finishing touches on each vessel.

Job Summary: As a Sea Trial Technician at Yellowfin, your role is pivotal in elevating the overall product quality by closely collaborating with team members. Your responsibilities include conducting on-water validations, performing quality checks, and contributing to a culture of excellence throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute in-process and final product quality checks, strictly adhering to Yellowfin standards.

  1. Utilize documentation to provide comprehensive feedback and meticulously track results.

  1. Read and comprehend blueprints and procedural documentation.

  1. Conduct inspections and on-water validations for all Yellowfin models, including new product development.

  1. Actively promote and instill a culture of quality across Yellowfin.

  1. Manage transportation, fueling, and testing of all Yellowfin models in production.

  1. Assist Sr. Quality Manager in implementing 5S, standard work, lean initiatives, and product improvement strategies.

  1. Collaborate with various departments to offer critical quality feedback for continuous improvement projects.

  1. Ensure strict adherence to equipment safety standards and communicate preventative maintenance needs.

  1. Navigate and proficiently water-validate boats ranging in size from 24’-54’.

  1. Safely launch, trailer, and dock boats, demonstrating expertise in boat components testing (generators, A/C systems, electronics, plumbing systems, etc.).

  1. Understand and inspect to ABYC standards (AC/DC electrical, gas engines, fuel systems, drainage, general marine, etc.).

  1. Demonstrate self-motivation and energy while thriving in a team environment with minimal supervision.

  1. Cultivate a continuous improvement mindset for both product and processes.

  1. Leverage previous marine manufacturing/service experience (1-2 years preferred) to contribute to product quality.

  1. Showcase boat mechanical and electrical knowledge.

Other Requirements:

  • Stand for 8+ hours per shift.

  • Lift up to 50lbs.

  • Possess or be willing to obtain a Safe Boating Certification.

  • Proficient in using PC-based software programs (Excel, Word, etc.).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Willingness to:

  • Learn other inspection or production-related processes related to all Yellowfin models.

  • Obtain ABYC certification.
