About the Job
Shift: 6 am – 6 pm – 12-hour shift, Saturday and Sunday.
Job Purpose and Overview
Perform line replenishing duties which consist of unloading the freight elevator, stocking lines with ingredients, and storing unused ingredients in proper areas in the warehouse. To ensure the proper scanning of each ingredient.
What Does It Take to be a Material Handler at Dawn Foods?
Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.
- One year experience in a warehouse or distribution environment (knowledge of warehouse operations preferred)
- Requires oral, written, and communication skills
- Must be able to handle many diversified tasks at one time and correctly prioritize time
- Must be forklift-certified or can become forklift-certified
- 6 months of forklift experience
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Computer skills helpful
What you'll do as a Material Handler at Dawn Foods
- Movement of raw material physically from the elevator to lines/storage and electronically using a scanner
- Organize and maintain designated warehouse and production areas for proper ingredient storage in assigned areas, including allergen storage
- Ensure open and/or ripped ingredient bags are labeled appropriately
- Proper scanning of raw materials to locations including adjusting inventory to skids when brought to the line and putaway
- Manage miscellaneous putaway functions of raw materials
- Help with set-ups and weigh-ups
- Communicates with receiving warehouse in person or via radio on low-level inventories, to obtain the raw material list for each line and serves as a general liaison between the receiving warehouse and line operators
- Performs cycle counting under the direction of the Inventory Control Coordinator
- Follow the company's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards
- Other duties as assigned
- Assist with production as needed
- Adhere to GMP, Food Safety, International Food Standards (IFS) and American Institute of Baking (AIB) standards
- Adhere to the Food Defense and Security functions within the facility

- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 75-100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus
- Temperature fluctuates with the season – colder during the winter/warmer during the summer
- Working around heavy machinery – hearing protection required in the production area
