SUMMARY

The Job Success Coach and Mentor is responsible for performing employment counseling, follow-up, conduct on-site visits, partnering with employers and coordinating OJT opportunities leading to successful employment opportunities and Job Success for clients to achieve program outcomes and individual client goals. The Job Success Coach and Mentor will also participate in client outreach and program enrollment activities.

Primary responsibilities of the Job Success Coach and Mentor will be to work with each program participant as their employment case manager and employment Success Coach and Mentor. The Success Coach is responsible for providing participants with necessary training referrals and also direct them to appropriate OJT opportunities based on the skills and desires of the participant and the needs of the employer. Primary goal will be to enable the participant to overcome barriers and receive all needed training and support to result in employment offer that meets the participants skills level, desire and provides a livable wage. The Job Success Coach will continue to provide one-on-one mentoring throughout training, including OJT, as well as through first year of employment to maximize retention. The Success Coach will also provide supplemental training to clients as needed, including Road to Success Essential Skills training to each client as well as Financial Education once the participant has entered employment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategically develops return-to-work strategies, including life skills, employment training and counseling for diverse population facing multiple barriers to employment
  • Serves as a liaison between employer’s community service providers, and other supportive service agencies and organizations.
  • Conduct and document intakes and assessments to develop Individual Employment Plans (IEPs), including goals and actions plans, for each participant, incorporating that individual’s history, interest, strengths, and desires for employment. Provide ongoing Case Management for each participant through training, including OJT, and first year of employment.
  • Identifies needed education and assistance needs and creates path and action plan to obtain needed skills and receive necessary supportive services to overcome employment barriers.
  • Deliver Life Skills training as they complete Job Readiness activities and are ready to enter OJT.
  • In coordination with Program Services staff, develops and maintains relationships with agencies and employers to promote OJT and employment opportunities for a diverse ex-offender population.
  • Identifies employer partners (internal and external) to create training and OJT opportunities with to meet both client and employer needs
  • Ensures participants receive the fullest value to achieve on-the-job training success including follow-up to set and evaluate outcomes.
  • Helps employers understand participants’ capabilities and develop career goals using both in-house and outreach strategies.
  • Conducts onsite-visits throughout OJT experience to support and monitor clients as they progress through their IEPs as well as assess needs for further vocational training using.
  • Works with Employers and participants to ensure successful job placement.
  • Serves as Job Success Coach and Mentor to each participant throughout the entire training and OJT process and through first year of employment by performing regular follow-ups and ensuring goals are met.
  • Responsible for assuring Life Skills training and other needed vocational training is provided and/or coordinated for client.
  • Responsible for assuring Financial Education is provided and/or coordinated for client once client has entered employment.
  • Responsible for compiling, submitting, and maintaining reporting. Ensures that grant client data reporting is timely, accurate and operating within the constraints of the grant financial budget guidelines.
  • Works closely with all Program Services staff to continually seek ways to share resources and services such for the overall benefit of the population we serve.
  • Ensures the safety of participants, staff, and others by following all organizational and programmatic policies and procedures.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
