Jewelry Sales Associate (Part Time)

As part of our small tight-knit team, the part-Time Sales Associate helps us to provide a friendly and easy experience for our clients. In addition to general showroom sales, you will assist clients with repair and engraving intake and check out.

Hours and Wage

The position is for between 10 to 20 hours per week. The store is open Tuesday through Saturday, and closed Sunday and Monday, and this position would need you to be able to work on Saturdays. Additional hours will be available in December and January. We are flexible with scheduling and hours and can collaborate on a schedule that works for us both.

The starting wage would be $22.50 per hour plus commissions/bonuses.

Job Responsibilities

• Work directly with clients to understand their needs, and pair them with the appropriate jewelry (from our stock, a special order, or a custom design).
• Work directly with clients to take in repairs and/or engravings (We will train you in check-in procedures).
• Call, text, and/or email clients to provide estimates, ask questions, and or/follow up, and to let them know that jobs are ready for pick up.
• Follow our procedures (you will be trained) in how to inspect jewelry coming out of our workshop to make sure the work was performed to our standards (quality control).
• Answer the phone as needed.
• Assist with gift wrapping (we will train you)
• Assist with opening and closing procedures (depending on your schedule).
• Assist with inventory procedures.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

• Sales and/or Jewelry Sales Experience is preferred, but not required. We will train the right candidate.
• Computer experience is required. You will need to know more than just how to turn a computer on and check your email.
• There will be some very basic math skills required for calculating estimates, and for some other aspects of the job.
• Ability to self-manage and follow our procedures (I am not a “micromanager,” once trained, I will expect you to be able to do your job without direct supervision).
• This is retail sales, so you need to like to work with people!

From the Vault Jewelers was founded by my mother in 2001 as a primarily retail sales-based store. When I (her son) took over day to day operations back in 2013, the store was pivoting to a repair shop and custom design-based model. We make many of our own pieces in our shop. The retail jewelry world is extremely competitive and having unique and more unusual pieces has been how we have set ourselves apart for over 20 years. We continue to try and push the envelope of what a small family-owned business can provide for our customers. We are constantly experimenting both with new designs and lines in our showroom, and with how we approach our systems and procedures. We have built a small, tight-knit team who all work very well together, and we are looking for someone who can join in and be a part of the team.

We strive to always maintain open and honest communication with our client base, and make sure they are always the leading voice in decision making regarding what we do with their jewelry. These are the customer’s items; we are not deciders of what happens to other people’s things. We work in collaboration with our clients, so as a team we can assist them with their jewelry-related desires.
