Atrium Health Levine Children’s is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Hospital Medicine physician to join their team of 75 + providers, serving 9 Pediatric Hospitalist locations in the greater Charlotte area. This is a fabulous opportunity to join our dynamic team and work our regional children’s hospital in Concord as well as our new facility, Atrium Health Lake Norman providing newborn nursery delivery coverage.
Position details:
Schedule of 8 shifts at Jeff Gordon Children’s Center/month on the inpatient service which rounds on patients in the well baby nursery, inpatient unit, and ED. Plus 7-8 days/month of 24/7coverage at Lake Norman, a regional level I nursery.
Shifts are either 7a-6p or 9a-8p at Jeff Gordon, and 24 hour coverage from home for Lake Norman.
This will be a combined position, with inpatient coverage, including rounding of an average of 12 to 16 inpatients including well baby newborns, performing admissions to the inpatient service, and providing ED consults at Jeff Gordon Children’s Center. Regional coverage at Lake Norman is 24/7 from home covering a 6-bed level 1 well infant delivery service. Newborn stabilization skills required.
Joining a team of 2 physician and 1 APP that round daily, with Family Practice Residents and PA student at Jeff Gordon Children’s Center. Nights are covered in house by a nocturnist team. Lake Norman is covered by a single provider.
Weekend coverage 1 per every 2-3 weekends, home call while covering Lake Norman Hospital
Telemedicine privileges available
Qualification requirements:
Board Certified in General Pediatrics and Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Hospital Medicine is strongly encouraged but not required.
Experience with lumbar puncture procedures
Experience in inpatient pediatric medicine is preferred.
Jeff Gordon Children's Center (JGCC) at Atrium Health Cabarrus has been designed specifically with children in mind. A 53-bed children’s hospital embedded in Atrium Health Cabarrus, it offers a wide range of services including subspecialty and progressive inpatient care as well as NICU services. Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital is committed to excellence, with a focus on family-centered pediatric care.
Atrium Health Lake Norman is a new facility opening in July 2025. It is a community hospital located in beautiful Cornelius on Lake Norman just north of Charlotte. Coverage will be of a Level I Newborn nursery. Providers will be available within 30 minutes to attend deliveries.
Levine Children’s Hospital serves as the clinical training site for the CMC Pediatric Residency Program as well as medical students from the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Opportunities for faculty appointment and advancement are available through the Wake Forest School of Medicine commensurate with experience. Support for clinical research and quality improvement is available to interested candidates. The highly anticipated opening of the Wake Forest School of Medicine – Charlotte Campus in 2025 will provide additional opportunities for education, quality improvement and clinical research.
