We are seeking a Java Developer IV (Backend, Scala) to join our growing team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our backend systems using Java.
This position is an on-site position, and will be a W-2 hourly 12 month contract with possible extension.
The hourly rate is $60 - $65. Candidates will be paid within this range based on their work experience and skills. Candidates are also eligible for limited benefits such as health insurance, professional development, trainings, our referral bonus program, and our wellness program.
Responsibilities:
Job Description: Responsible for designing and developing software applications and application extensions using a combination of Java technologies and modern Big Data platforms and streaming technologies. Guides the integration and deployment of a broad range of components, from lab development environments to QA and production. Troubleshoots and analyzes production issues. Documents work activity using a blend of Agile technologies and WIKI-based content management systems. Collaborates closely with both senior and junior colleagues.
Your responsibilities will include the rapid development of prototypes/concepts along with regular development. You are experienced with agile development and a champion of software development best practices.
- Must be self-motivated, and ability to work independently, fast learner and pays attention to detail.
- Ability to think like an architect, and produce high-quality code.
- Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture.
- Use TDD and ATDD, using Cucumber-Jvm, and ScalaTest.
- Must be able to build REST services from the ground up.
- Technologies: Scala 2.11, Http4s, Play2, Akka, Kafka, ELK, Scalaz, Hadoop, Apache Spark, Amazon Web Service (Lambda, S3, Kinesis, SQS).
- Strong in OOP & Functional paradigm.
- Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, engineering, management information mm systems or combination of education and equivalent working experience.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in Scala.
- Strong software design skills and knowledge of design patterns.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and associated tools (Jira).
