Walla Walla Foundry is one of the largest fine art fabricators in the world. Originally founded in 1980 as a bronze casting foundry, it now employs around 100 people and produces work in a range of materials and through multiple processes. ABOUT THE JOB
The Walla Walla Foundry is seeking a Part-Time Janitorial Maintenance Technician to perform general custodial duties and scheduled maintenance tasks. Working as part of the janitorial team in an industrial setting, this position assists with after hours cleaning and sanitation per the schedule. This is a great position for someone who likes to stay busy, likes a physical job, and enjoys following a routine. It's also great for someone wanting a side job or some extra income!
WORK HOURS
This position works Monday through Friday on a part-time, swing shift schedule. 20 hours/week. The schedule could be either 2:30pm-6:30pm or 7:00pm-11:00pm.
WAGES AND BENEFITS
Starting wage is $17 to $20, depending on experience. Part-time roles earn Sick Leave, Paid Holidays, 401k and more!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF JANITORIAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
- Dust, sweep, mop, and vacuum assigned industrial working areas/floor space. This may Include cleaning up debris (dust and metal shavings) with an industrial vacuum.
- Wash/clean/disinfect assigned areas including toilets/lavatories, sinks, fixtures, cabinets
- Perform general cleaning duties such as dusting equipment, tables, and light fixtures
- Replenish supplies such as toilet paper, soap products, paper towels, etc
- Empty vacuum canisters, wastebaskets, trash and recycle containers; empty garbage cans into larger container
- Regularly operate forklifts to move materials/dump garbage totes
- Clear building entries and walkways of debris
- Lock and unlock buildings as needed; secure buildings when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows
- Watch janitorial product inventory to communicate when resupply is needed; organize and clean maintenance closets
- On a regular basis, check company email and maintenance related programs on the assigned ipad. Communicate in person or through available technology (email, programs, texts)

Requirements
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduate or GED; 1+ years janitorial, custodial, maintenance or other applicable service/work experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus
- Must have a safety-first approach to all work tasks
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job (see below for more detail)
- Comfort using technology/apps. Able to read work orders and record work accomplished; able to read and respond to emails
- Ability to communicate and comprehend instructions including, but not limited to safety policies, SDS sheets, work and maintenance schedules
- Experience operating forklift preferred; ability to be trained and certified to drive forklift required. Foundry will provide training and certification
- Must be reliable and efficient in approach to work
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Must be trustworthy
- Prior experience handling/cleaning Bloodborne Pathogens and/or Hazardous Waste is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the ability to push/pull, lift and carry up to 10 lbs. constantly, up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Physical demands include the ability to stand, bend and twist over long periods of time, and engage in repetitive motions of feet, arms and hands. (ex. vacuum, sweeping, scrubbing). Ability to operate foot controls and to grasp/pinch with hand(s) is frequent. Must be able to climb stairs. Must be able to kneel, bend, crouch and work in small spaces.
Environmental conditions can be loud, dusty and/or smoky. Work is primarily indoors but temperatures can swing with the weather. PPE required and worn daily including gloves, safety glasses, and work boots. N-95 dust masks may be worn on occasion.
