This position requires collaborating with physicians, other medical providers, and patients by providing nurse case management services for fertility treatments.
The Third Party Program Nurse demonstrates knowledge and skill in the coordination of services and responsibilities related to our Third Party program. Duties of the position includes; cycle set-up and synchronization, screening of gestational carriers, donors, and intended parents, communication of all patient lab results, providing ongoing patient support and guidance through their treatment cycle, and assurance of compliance with all FDA regulations. This position reports directly to the Third Party Program Nurse Manager.
The Third Party Nurse works collaboratively with all departments to provide timely, proficient, patient-centered services for all patients, supporting physicians’ treatment plan. Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members providing physical and psychological support to patients.Position Overview:
Provides direct patient care under direction of Third Party nurse manager and in cooperation with physicians. Assesses patient health, social, emotional, and learning needs, and develops specific, relevant patient plans of care which meet them. Documents all treatment according to policy and monitors effectiveness of care on patient outcome. Works with Third Party Team to assist in donor matching/screening, Surrogate screening, and FDA compliance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Conducts and documents individual patient assessment in collaboration with physician providing care
- Formulates and documents patient’s plan of care. Ensures plan is consistent with medical plan, incorporating nursing goals and patient/family/significant other needs. Monitors effectiveness based on outcome.
- Reviews, enters lab results and compares to standing orders to confirm normal findings. Presents any abnormal findings to physician for review, and assures appropriate follow-up/treatment. Scans labs into Ebridge.
- Administers medications according to policy/procedure.
- Participates in egg donor/recipient matching.
- Conducts teaching classes with egg recipients, surrogates, and egg donors for the purpose of self-administration of injections.
- Monitors appropriate lab values for therapeutic ranges of medications and for indications of drug-related interactions.
- Audits utilization of medications, including, but not limited to, controlled substances.
- Functions as part of interdisciplinary team to coordinate services to meet patients’ needs. Makes referrals as appropriate.
- Coordinates/synchronizes anonymous donor cycles with egg recipient and third party reproduction cases.
- Relays relevant information to physicians and embryologists about all donors and recipients.
- Is responsible for keeping current with Federal regulatory laws as they relate to tissue donation.
- Assists Third Party Nurse/Third Party Director in performing required testing and screening per FDA guidelines.
- Communicates with donors and recipient regarding their protocols, answers questions, and maintains direct contact with instructions during cycles.
- Confirms completion of donor eligibility screening and testing prior to donor cycles.
- Maintains patient files and medical records and complete patient charts as directed by physician.
- Orders and maintains supplies as necessary.
- Maintains current knowledge of policies and procedures. Reviews relevant literature and attends in-services and meetings.
- Functions as recovery room nurse after OR procedures in accordance with recovery room policy and procedure.
- Other duties as assigned.
HIPAA
The Staff Nurse will have access to PHI during the course of his/her work activities. The Staff Nurse will use this information to prepare both patients and medical records for visits with the provider and to keep the flow of work going smoothly in the clinic. Applying the minimum necessary standard of HIPAA, the designated records sets to which this employee will have access include: the full medical record and RESource.

Education/Experience Requirements:
- Graduation from accredited school of nursing
- Current license to practice in the state of Connecticut
- Experience in OB/GYN or reproductive endocrinology desirable
- BCLS/ACLS certified

Staff Nurse will be required to work at any facility and be responsible for own transportation
Staff Nurse will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call)
