Job Description
Position Title: IV Therapy/IV Infusionist
Position Type: Part-time (16-20 hours/week. 2 days/week as needed).
Location: Incline Village NV.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficiency in intravenous access skills with aseptic technique, verified by RN staff and Dr. Peterson.
Knowledgeable in using appropriate peripheral veins and IV instruments (e.g., angio catheters, butterflies).
Adherence to guidelines and protocols for IV therapy.
Familiarity with accessing central venous ports, either by the patient, Dr. Peterson, or an experienced RN.
Nevada licensed phlebotomist, RN with IV therapy background, or medical assistant with several years of hands-on experience with ill patients.
Ability to monitor vital signs, recognize allergic reactions, assess vein integrity, monitor tolerance of IV fluids, identify untoward side effects, and communicate issues promptly to the MD.
Current CPR certification; ACLS preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
Schedule all routine IVs, including Gamma Globulin, Amino Acids, Hydration, Antibiotics, Anti-virals, and Iron (Venofer).
Accommodate acutely ill patients on the "office side" as needed.
Maintain and update the Infusion Binder in collaboration with the RN and Dr. Peterson, including:
Protocols
IV sheet for each infused item
Master list of patients for each category (GG, Amino Acids, etc.) with a Master scheduling grid, phone numbers, and allergies.
Conduct blood draws, assist with colonoscopy procedures, and handle return phone calls as necessary.
Ensure the availability of necessary supplies for monthly orders for the entire office.
Other duties as appropriate to support the smooth functioning of Sierra Internal Medicine in Indian Village, NV.
