Who You Are
You are a ITS Construction Groundsman with at least two (2) years’ experience with the entire lifecycle of ITS and/or electrical construction, will be expected to work on Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) related projects under the direct supervision of a Foreman or Journeyman Electrician. This person enjoys working both collaboratively and independently to repair, maintain, install electrical equipment in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. This individual is a motivated self-starter, proactively taking the initiative to lead and solve problems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in Installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signal and ITS systems
- Assists in Installation of, pull box installations, service cabinet installations/wiring, long distance cable pulls, installation of electrical conduits, traffic signal/streetlight cables, loop detectors, drill shafts, poles, LED modules, electronic traffic components, and traffic signal/streetlight fixtures.
- Working in lane closures within close proximity to moving traffic
- Receive and follow instructions from project Foreman or Journeyman Electrician on miscellaneous tasks as needed throughout the shift.
- Document and be able to report on the progress of the activities.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- 2 years of recent, verifiable experience in the electrical construction trade
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, traffic signal plans/ specifications, and procedure manuals
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Must be able to pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and drug test
Desired Skills and/or Knowledge
- IMSA Work Zone Safety Certification Preferred

Physical Requirements of this Position
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee should be able to move supplies/equipment up 75 lbs. The employee must be able to work at heights typically associated with repair, installation, and maintenance of traffic signals and streetlights. Employee may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Salary Range
- $29.00- $32.00 per hour, based on experience and education
