The role's main responsibility is to develop, maintain, improve and expand the trading desk's decision toolset.This opportunity has high-impact potential and good visibility to top management. The ideal candidate will not only posses the required technical skills but will also be expected to immerse into the team's commercial decision-making process and understand the technology needs of the desk.
This will require a self-starter attitude and to take full ownership of the software that supports the trading desk.This position is ideal for a highly skilled developer that has interest in the commodity trading industry and wants to be part and contribute to the growth of a leading trading desk in the US electricity power markets.The safety of our employees is our number one priority. Any offered contract role will not constitute an offer for nor guarantee of future employment with ENGIE.Duration:* One YearCompensation:* $100.00/hr.Location:* Houston, TexasWhat you'll do:* Interact and support Front Office (traders) with data management and software development* Maintain an Enterprise Data Warehouse with good understanding of relational and non-relational databases* Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.* Develop complex logic in database schema based on diverse business processes spanning multiple subsystems and large datasets* Assess, integrate, and clean data from internal and external sourcesWhat you bring:* Strong proficiency in MS SQL development.
That includes: write and manage efficient queries and views, develop SQL function and stored procedures, improve/alter table schemas, ensure data consistency via table constrains, manage security and interact with server administrators to ensure smooth database performance.* Fluency in MS Excel, including VBA scripting, pivot tables, external data sources via ODBC, add-in development, complex data lookup.* Programming and debugging abilities in matrix-based languages such as R or Matlab.* Familiarity with C++ and ability to build / maintain codebase using MS Visual Studio* Full command of code control / versioning systems such as a GIT, being able to manage the code base versioning for the team.* Excellent communication skills.* Good notion of basic statistics.* Attention to detailsAdditional Information/Conditions:* Work can be mostly remote but some visits to Houston office will be required.Why ENGIE?ENGIE North America isn't just participating in the Zero-Carbon Transition, we're leading it!
