Position Description:

The Information Technology (IT) Support Tech will provide direct technical assistance and support to LaMotte Company staff for hardware and software issues. Duties include installing and maintaining computer systems including software and hardware, providing printer support, meeting with staff to provide one-on-one technical assistance as needed/requested, and providing training to staff on software and hardware use.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responds to user requests for service, troubleshoots problems, and helps develop solutions (both hardware and software).
• Supports PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software.
• Performs minor repairs to equipment and arranges for other servicing needs.
• Maintains open communications and positive working relationships with staff.
• Serves as the on-site help for our Managed Service Provider.

Miscellaneous:

1. Notifies Manager of any process, quality, equipment, safety, personnel problems, etc., and cooperates in resolving such issues as well. For example, requests assistance when systems prevent the efficient performance of duties or when a system fails.

2. Provides Manager with feedback to determine where additional training would benefit and obtains additional training as necessary.

3. Complies with all Company policies (i.e. personnel, safety, etc.).

4. Performs other duties as assigned. (Such duties may or may not be essential functions of the job.)

5. Occasional travel to our Chestertown, MD facility.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Must have awareness of PC hardware components, desktop operating software, and application software.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems.
• Strong interpersonal skills: pleasant demeanor and good oral and written communication.
• Must be able to research/understand technical documentation, how to apply various technical resources, and installations & upgrades to operating systems and application software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel, and Windows 11 at a technical level.
• Experience with networking technologies and printer support is a plus.
• An Associate degree in IT or relevant experience within IT is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is a plus.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Works indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. Requires communicating effectively verbally and in writing, operating computer, and troubleshooting. Must be able to transport up to 25 lbs.
