Job Description
This is a temporary internship position intended for aspiring IT professionals with a background in Information Technology, who are pursing a degree in an IT related field. This position is contingent upon future funding.
Duties & Responsibilities:
DCT Goals/Progression

• Build knowledge of basic programming skills, including proficiency in HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL/MariaDB
• Build knowledge of GIT and BitBucket
• Build knowledge of Composer
• Build knowledge of OnBase form and workflow development
• Be able to build simple SQL queries and use SQL to retrieve data from our SIS
• Be able to build procedural PHP scripts
• Be familiar with how DCT and its applications interact with other departments and students
• Select a simple script to rewrite
• Be able to troubleshoot errors and trace program execution
• Be able to troubleshoot SQL errors
• Develop simple data integration between webserver and vendor (SFTP)
• Become familiar with Laravel/Lumen, and know when to use them

IT Goals/Progression - Under close supervision

• Build knowledge of PC imaging processes, learn to build and update an image, pull down an image from the server and customize and/or update images
• Build knowledge of customer equipment setup and installations ie transferring data to new equipment, installing printers, connecting PC's to Active Directory, adding software
• Build knowledge for troubleshooting by knowing the difference between network and equipment issues, research issues independently for solutions, know who to request assistance from, and be able to assist with tier 1 issues without assistance
• Build knowledge for Apple technology and Jamf, how to setup Apple products using Jamf,
• Develop a documented procedure guide for future interns
• Build knowledge for IP configurations for printers and/or other peripherals, be able to independently setup peripherals
• Build knowledge of inventory management from purchase to surplus; the documentation and processes for sensitive inventory tracking

DCT Goals/Progression

• Build knowledge of OnBase administration
• Be familiar with basic APIs
• Understand MVC architecture
• Rewrite an existing application, or create a new one
• Have a basic understanding of JavaScript and jQuery
• Build an understanding of OOP, specifically within PHP
• Build an understanding of popular design patterns
• Understand dependency injection
• Understand interfaces and contracts
• Troubleshoot server-level issues
• Design/develop web applications

IT Goals/Progression

• Build and deploy an image for mediated equipment independently
• Install customer equipment and peripherals independently
• Configure and deploy images for Apple products using Jamf
• Develop policies for the year one procedure guide
• Manage inventory from purchase to surplus
• Build knowledge for servers, know basics concepts of Active Directory, physical and virtual servers for tier 1 support
• Provide tier 1 and 2 support to the college community, be able to independently resolve customer issues, know when to escalate

Decisions and Judgements:

• Answering phone calls and tickets for the DCT/IT HelpDesks to help resolve issues from students and faculty/staff
• Work with others in Computing Services to make decisions on projects that affect the campus
• Learn to diagnose basic issues and provide solutions.
• Have an effective communication style to communicate IT issues to end users.
• Ask questions and write procedures when learning new tasks.
