IT Quality Control Advisor

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and in office 1 - 2 days per week).  Ideal candidates will live within 50 miles of one of our Pulse Point locations in Cary, NC, Los Angeles, CA, Irvine, CA and Chicago, IL.

The IT Quality Control Advisor develops testing strategy and master test plan to support testing objectives.

How you will make an impact: 

  • Identifies, plans, and executes testing activities to ensure high quality software and ensure compliance according to regulatory statues, policies and procedures.

  • Tests Web Application software, including Java and .Net.  

  • Tests Web Services, test applications which utilize Java based applications.

  • Performs white-box tests.

  • Creates and maintains test plans, test cases and summaries.

  • Executes manual and automated test cases/scripts.

  • Manages test data and performs data analysis.

  • Defines, maintains, and organizes input and output data.

  • Develops and maintains quality repositories to assure quality data integrity, including different database platforms.

  • Communicates QA risks, milestones, and status to the QA Lead or Project Manager.

  • Reviews and verifies functional and system requirements to ensure project deliverables pass QA criteria.

  • Provides work estimates for testing activities.

  • Assists in the setup and maintenance of QA test environment and tools.

  • Collects and reports on quality statistics and metrics. 

  • Records and monitors discovered defects and QA related issues.

  • Participates in quality related discussions.

  • Promotes continuous improvement.

  • Improves test cycle duration using testing tools.

  • Manages the relationship with peer in IT and business for system(s) supported.

  • Leads and coordinates all testing within a system area.

  • Plays a leadership role in the design, development, and implementation of testing components.

  • Defines appropriate testing methods to employ to assure developed product conforms to requirements and design.

  • Reviews/approves all project related test assets for completeness and quality. Ensures all applicable SDLC and testing processes are followed.

  • Manages both onshore and offshore test execution resources for project under test.

  • Oversees test data management, collection of requirements, evaluation of available data in repositories, ID gaps, and owns test data provisioning tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 5 years of executing application testing and IT product quality experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • Quality Certification, such as CSTE, CSQA, CMST, CSQE strongly preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience as QA Analyst strongly preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in all aspects of functional testing across a broad set of technologies, including cloud technology, container based micro services for sub-UI testing, RESTful service testing, thin-client testing (html/Angular), database testing, virtual service stub testing, and more strongly preferred.

  • Expert knowledge in Test Plan and Test Case development strongly preferred.

  • Deep knowledge of user story to test case translation with methods like Gherkin/Cucumber or equivalent strongly preferred.

  • Experience with IBM Rational Integration Tester, Soap UI, Postman for API Automation, MQ Series, ETL, DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server validations strongly preferred.

  • Expert knowledge with Test Automation Frameworks strongly preferred.

  • Understanding of HP Load Runner, MS Visual Studio for Performance Testing Automation preferred.

  • Familiarity with common test automation tools including but not limited to Selenium, Appium, UFT, Rest Assured, Maven, Jenkins, Git etc. preferred.

  • Experience with Java, JavaScript, Python for test automation tasks preferred.

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $89,440 - $160,992.
