Job description

IT Ops Analysts are responsible for defining technology needs, prioritizing them in the global planning process, analyzing, submitting, and approving new initiatives. IT Ops Analysts lead efforts to define and manage technology solutions, project initiatives, business architectures, technology objectives and strategies, and represent these to business areas and IT leadership as needed.
The Strategy and PlanningIT Operations Analyst is a key contributor that will partner with leadership to establish a consistent framework to prioritize business direction and align with IT priorities. This function will establish dependencies between core business direction, solution designs, portfolio planning, and program management. This will provide the aligned source of direction across the IT horizontal and vertical teams.
Job Duties/Essential Functions
• Develops and drives executable IT programs in support of the company, divisional and team goals, and objectives as they relate to assigned areas.
• Develops and engages in modernization and transformation roadmap planning; identifying critical dependencies impacting countries, the business, and the IT division.
• Documents and manages risks, issues, assumptions, and constraints impacting delivery efforts.
• Conducts periodic audits for solutions, planning, and delivery functions.
• Develops and tracks all financials associated with projects and other department level efforts.
• Manages solution delivery throughout the project life cycle, frequently managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Engages with IT teams to align global solutions and toolsets and partners with business leaders to define and align global technology needs.
• Consults on industry technology, trends, and capabilities; researching industry standards, best practices, and new innovations in technology and service delivery.
• Develops frameworks to govern global change and directs and supports global delivery teams to balance project priorities and trade-off decisions.
• Leverages and manages vendor/contracted resources to expedite moves/adds/changes, and reduces internal team work loads.
• Monitors all project and department expenditures to the approved Capital Expenditure Authorization (CEA) budgeted amounts and to individual contractor contract amounts.
• Identifies and resolves problems, often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow; develops and evaluates options and implements solutions.
• Focuses on business architecture development and providing actionable business strategic artifacts.
• Analyzes business processes using facilitated interviews, document analysis, process workshops, surveys, site visits, user stories, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
• Delivers or contributes to the following project artifacts as needed: Business Process diagram, Problem Statements, Constraints, Goals, Metrics, Business Rules, Capability Maps, Application/Systems Catalogs etc.
• Partners with subject matter experts (SMEs) to determine the process and system needs.
• Contributes to the definition, development, implementation and maintenance of the business architecture and business motivation models.
• Develops and maintains key team deliverables/dashboards/KPIs and status reports.
• Creates and curates Customer User Journey Maps.
• Provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching for internal and external team members.
• Adheres to and upholds Costco's core values. Works with division in development and driving executable IT Programs in support of the company, divisional and team goals and objectives as they relate to assigned areas.
• Organizes and synthesizes large amounts of information provided by stakeholders.
• Regular and reliable workplace attendance as needed at your assigned location.

Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications
Required:
• 2-5 years' experience in delivering technology solutions.
• 2-5 years' experience gathering business requirements.
• 2-5 years' experience in business process documentation, analysis and improvement.
• Develops and presents a business case document and/or presentation to management. Must be familiar with a broad set of technologies and solutions currently in use at Costco.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
• Must possess strong abstraction skills - ability to derive general rules and concepts from the usage and classification of specific examples, literal signifiers, and first principles.
• Good understanding of Corporate IT policies, procedures and standards.
• Must possess strong communication skills - able to speak to large audiences and to leaders at all levels of the organization. Able to adapt vocabulary and style for each situation; able to represent complex ideas with effective documents and visuals and to adapt presentations to the expectations and background of the audience.
• Extremely responsive, with a strong sense of urgency.

• A strong understanding of the ServiceNow Platform.
• Manages program/project architectural and technical strategies as defined by Enterprise Architecture.
• Manages program level activities by developing and executing against a strategic program charter.
• Process improvement skills and demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot and provide solutions.
• Familiar with Costco's IT or similar project methodology, processes and procedures.
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, CS, MIS or equivalent experience.
• Successful internal candidates will have spent one year or more on their current team.
