JOB TITLE: IT NETWORK SPECIALIST
Under direction of our IT Network Administrator, performs highly responsible and complex professional and technical tasks in the support and maintenance of the District's network infrastructure and network applications, server infrastructure, virtualization; and performs related duties as assigned
The Network Specialist is responsible for providing quality services and solutions to our students, teachers, staff and administrators while maintaining a high level of end user satisfaction. You will perform hardware installations and service based repair calls both remote and onsite at schools and district facilities and will occasionally assist with end user training, hosted voice installs and proactive maintenance during onsite visits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Install and maintain new and/or existing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems. Escalate issues beyond the established skill set.
  • Install and support basic network systems including workstations, servers and infrastructure devices.
  • Install and support archive and backup systems.
  • Accurately create and maintain documentation and comply with service administrative procedures, including support tickets, ticket updates, time entries and timesheets.
  • Create and update network diagrams.
  • Provide technical support and support advice to end-users regarding operational and hardware/ application issues.
  • Stay up to date with relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  • Function collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, education oriented team.
  • Attend required district and departmental meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current industry certifications are a plus, including Microsoft MCSA, Cisco CCENT / CMNA, EMC-SA, Citrix CCA, VMWare VCA, CompTIA N+ / A+ / Security+.
  • Valid Driver's License, proof of personal insurance and an acceptable driving record.
  • Basic experience with and understanding of network applications and protocols.
  • Proficiency with business collaboration tools such as MS Office applications and Google Apps for Education.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Generally, the job requires 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing.
  • Requires fine finger dexterity to use office equipment and office technology; visual perception for interacting with computer screens for prolonged periods of time is required
  • Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • May experience constant interruptions, inflexible deadlines, and changes to normal routines; ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet production deadlines; ability to use problem-solving and analytical skills to identify concerns and solutions with software and hardware; must complete a high volume of computer use and input a high volume of data with speed and accuracy, including confidential data.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate with a diverse range of personnel (e.g. support staff, administrators, co-workers); must maintain strict confidentiality.
  • May be required to occasionally work a flexible schedule with some evenings and overnight during high demand times, unplanned and planned IT outages.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • 251 day contract
  • 8 hours per day
  • 2.004 pay ratio
