Job description

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES


Library Systems, Software, and Hardware

  • Maintains library systems, software, and hardware. This includes database management, recommending products for purchase, assisting with system upgrades, reporting, and interacting with vendors.
  • With guidance from the Patron Access Services Manager, provides systems administration to include installation, configuration and maintenance of library software applications; researches, troubleshoots and resolves problems related to the integrated library system (ILS) and other library software application vendors, internet, document management, self checkout, systems availability and performance, etc.
  • Maintains library technology equipment, including, but not limited to: hotspots, printers and related supplies, public computers, and staff computers. Works with vendors with maintenance contracts for specific equipment.
  • Communicates information to a variety of internal and external customers.
  • Oversees system-related issues and troubleshoots technology issues for library staff. Provides training on software and hardware systems, when appropriate.
  • Manages and maintains online library website, online catalog and digital resources.

Technology Budget and Planning

  • Monitors the monthly technology budget
  • Works with the Patron Access Services Manager on a proposal for the technology budget each fiscal year to include justifications for purchase.
  • Works with the Patron Access Services Manager to coordinate library software and hardware purchases and monitors subscriptions as well as maintenance and license agreements.

Project Management

  • Assists with the implementation and application of new technologies.
  • Acts as a liaison and point of contact with the ILS and other library vendors,

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • May have some post-secondary experience
  • Must have prior work experience
  • May have some library experience (preferred)
  • Must have some experience (two years preferred) in a specialized professional field or practice (graphic design, office administration/management, facilities/maintenance, accounting, human resources, information technology, etc.)
