This position will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which delivers a full suite of services to state agencies, boards, councils, and commissions, and many central services to local government partners.
Job Summary
ThisStudent Worker position provides the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of information technology.As an IT Asset Management Student Worker, you will perform IT Asset Management activities from receipt to end of useful life.
These tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Oversee the management of all IT assets for the State of Minnesota and ensure MNIT complies with the audit requirements as stated in the State of Minnesota Property Management Policy and User Guide.
  • Coordinate the deployment of IT assetsand resolve Asset Management issues through HELIX's Incident Management Console, following the MNIT IT sensitive assets processes.

This position requires an employee to be onsite at the work location in St. Paul, Minnesota.
This position requires some travel to State of Minnesota office locations throughout the Metro area. Estimated travel is 10%. A validdriver's license is required.
Please note that this is a limited, part-time, 20 hours per week position that is anticipated to last up to three (3) years.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:
Education:
Student Worker Eligibility -
To be eligible for an appointment as a Student Worker Paraprofessional, you must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate educational program or plan to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a Student Worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution you must carry at least six semester/nine quarter credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.
Experience:
  • Academic programs can include Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related program.
  • Through formal education or work experience, the incumbent is expected to have knowledge or experience of Windows Environment.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical information for non-technical staff.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good organizational skills, ability to work independently, and excellent written and verbal skills.

Physical Requirements
Requires moving/lifting devices such as desktops, monitors, laptops, and miscellaneous equipment from multiple locations (Desk to desk or from one agency site to another), lifting devices up on to storage shelves (Above head (40 lbs.) and being able to gain access under desks (crawl).
