IT ASSET MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under direction of the Information Technology Leadership, reconciles department, grant, and bond budgets. Provides support to department and district staff via telephone, e-mail, Internet/Intranet, and other media on technology equipment and software licensing, pricing, ordering, and receiving activities. Tracks and coordinates the resolution of problems involving vendors and shippers. Performs a wide variety of inventory-related duties, including ordering using computer software and web-based ordering systems, tracking and receiving hardware and software, maintaining hardware and software maintenance records, maintaining enterprise-wide hardware and software licensing and maintenance agreements. Provides enterprise-wide tracking and inventory for all computer equipment, including network equipment and peripherals. Incumbent performs related work as required.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as department buyer having knowledge in purchasing all IT technology equipment and parts, using general, grant and/or bond funds; arrange travel for department staff, processing all necessary paperwork; approves computer equipment purchased based on IT standards; researches and resolves contract maintenance agreement problems identified by budget, audit and cost benefit analysis; performs payroll duties for the department; provides extensive support to department and district personnel regarding purchase of technology equipment; maintains and provides up-to-date technical information and documentation needed to order, purchase or repair technology components; maintains records and determines needs and stock levels based on usage rates, product life, space availability and delivery times; monitors and tracks vendor order and repair service requests and prepares statistical reports used for strategic planning and utilization of enterprise-wide technology support resources; analyzes costs, confers with vendors and facilitates communication with district personnel regarding computer technology purchases; tracks the resolution of problems involving coordination with vendors; maintains records in order to resolve problems with missing/lost/stolen equipment in-house or with shippers; maintains all records related to enterprise-wide hardware, software and software licensing and maintenance agreements; creates and maintains inventory records related to the maintenance of hardware, and software; and maintains and provides up-to-date technical information and documentation needed to order, purchase, or repair technology components.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education/Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:
1. High School diploma or equivalent;
AND
2. Three (3) years of administrative experience providing a working knowledge of asset and inventory management practices and procedures with at least two (2) years of working with inventory and Asset Management, and three (3) years of working with computers and computer applications.
Knowledge of: Must have a strong knowledge of PC hardware and software, basic accounting principles, procedures, and terminology; computerized accounting systems; modern office procedures, practices, and equipment; and policy/procedures development; and extensive knowledge of effective customer service approaches.
Skill at: Communicating effectively with district school and departmental personnel both in writing and on the telephone; handling busy telephones in a stressful environment; flexibility and adaptability to deal with changing technologies and priorities and working under pressure to meet deadlines; working independently and as part of a team in a cooperative, productive manner; resolving routine technical problems relating to computer technology, including the resolution of vendor issues; maintaining organized, up-to-date, highly accurate confidential records; analyzing requests for information with speed and accuracy; preparing, maintaining, and researching a variety of detailed and computerized records; researching, interpreting and complying with all applicable laws, policies, and procedures; making accurate mathematical computations; integrating spreadsheet and database information into word processing documents; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with district, departmental and school personnel as well as vendors and the public.
Licenses/Certificates: Possession of a valid Nevada driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the District.
Special Consideration: Incumbent must be able to frequently lift 40 to 50 lbs.

New employees hired by Washoe County School District are normally placed on the entry step of the grade of the position. Salaries are subject to adjustment and may increase and decrease each fiscal year.
Additional Job Information
This is a 40 hour a week, 260 day position.
INCENTIVES
Eligible employees of WCSD receive different benefits depending on their scheduled hours per week.
Eligible Employees who regularly work less than 20 hours per week receive Social Security benefits, salary increases, longevity bonuses, and credit union benefits.
Eligible Employees who regularly work 20 to 24.75 hours per week receive PERS retirement benefits, which are lifetime pension plans for public employees in various states,
In addition to the benefits above. Eligible Employees who regularly work 25 to 27.25 hours per week receive all the benefits above except medical, dental, and vision insurance.
Eligible Employees who regularly work 27.5 hours per week or more receive full benefits of the district, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, holiday pay, vacation pay, sick leave, life insurance, and insurance premiums for summer months.
Beginning July 1,2023: If you are enrolling in our health insurance plan and submit all proper documentation, you should know that there is no waiting period, your medical, dental, vision and life insurance will become effective on your first contracted work day.
All eligible employees also enjoy no state income tax and no Social Security deductions for most positions working 20 hours per week or more.
New employees will be fingerprinted upon hire and every five years thereafter and will have $58.50 deducted from their first paycheck to help defray the cost of fingerprinting. Non-licensed employees will have $58.50 deduction when their fingerprints are completed every five years. Fingerprint fees are subject to change.
Temporary employees working less than 6 months do not receive benefits.
