Summary:
**This position will be hired based on directly related experience as an Application Analyst I - IV**
Hours & Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm normal business schedule with an on-call rotation up to 2 weeks per year.
Summary:
The Application Analyst collaborates with users of our Electronic Medical Record and/or Financial Applications and is responsible for the design, build, integration and configuration based on professional standards, regulations and patient safety. In this role, the analyst will facilitate the ongoing process of the design, implementation and revision of automated and manual components of the available Information Systems. The analyst will provide expertise of the assigned applications and processes and will follow departmental procedures in order to support the operational customers. The analyst will work on projects of large scope and complexity; may lead smaller scoped projects.
The Data Analytics team at Altru Health System functions as the primary support team and contact for Epic reporting. The Application Analyst will work with various customers to understand and document complex requirements, design and implement reports, and coordinate issues that arise during the reporting project. The analyst is a technical individual with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in functional areas. This position is for our Data Analytics team and prior experience with Epic EHR and Epic Cogito is preferred. A strong candidate would have experience with Epic applications, Epic Cogito data tools such as Clarity data models, SlicerDicer, Caboodle, Business Objects, Crystal Reports and SQL.
Epic Analysts will be required to acquire Epic Proficiency within 3 months of hire. Will also be required to complete annual Epic Proficiency requirements.
To be considered for this position, qualified applicants may be required to take and pass a proprietary assessment developed by Epic Systems Corporation if not already certified.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Participate and provides assistance in integrated area workgroups across application and operational teams. Understands the choices involved in application configuration and manage choices which support the guiding principles and strategies of the organization.
  • Performs in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection and report details to ensure standardization and process improvement opportunities.
  • Plans, develops, implements and evaluates Information Systems included in patient care, financial, reporting and interfaces in an efficient, organized manner that results in high levels of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures that all enhancement requests are being appropriately and adequately addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Takes responsibility for the problems reported and sees that a fix is provided to which the customer is kept informed and agrees. Coordinates and escalates with senior staff as appropriate to ensure that customer issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Serves as an expert resource for daily operational issues within the electronic medical record and other information systems.
  • Coordinates and participates in cross application testing with system changes, ensuring that the system changes are compatible with other applications workflow and processes.
  • Reviews and completes new build enhancements as appropriate, utilizing resources as needed.
  • Provide technical support, diagnosis of application errors and troubleshooting with system issues.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation. Ensures that after hours coverage of customer support is maintained per department policies and procedures. Responds to calls in a timely manner, takes responsibility for the problems reported and follows through to ensure a resolution is provided to the customer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

  • Performs in-depth and precise investigation and documentation of operational & report specifications
  • Functions as the primary support contact and expert for Epic reports
  • Defines requirements and develops standard reports

  • Conducts report testing and data validation
    Serves as the primary contact to troubleshoot problems and questions from end-users regarding reports and reporting functions
  • Provides status reports to management when required
  • Develops and documents internal procedures and establishes change control processes for development, modification and retirement of reports
  • Adhere to established industry best practices, standards, and quality
  • Functions with a high degree of autonomy
  • Understands strategies, determines business needs, and participates in planning and implementing Epic upgrades
