Job description

  Responsibilities: 
  • Designs and prepares meaningful, systematic and sequential instructions with relevant learning activities to meet course objectives
  • Assists students with certification assessment preparation
  • Teaches courses assigned by the IT and Cybersecurity Program Coordinator
  •  Regularly revises assigned to him/her courses under the direction of and in collaboration with the Program Coordinator to assure the correlation with changing business needs derived from the ongoing and evolving developments in IT Operations, IT Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Cloud development and deployments, and Software Development
  •  Promotes the program and participates in recruitment of new students through a variety of activities and means
  •  Supports IT & Cybersecurity Programs Coordinator in any or all of the following:
    1. Sharing his/her perspective on the needs of IT Programs with the Advisory Committee and in Seeking the advice from the Advisory Committee's on the ways to advance IT/Cybersecurity Program
    2. Modify existing or introducing/promoting an addition of new and emerging technologies into the Program
    3. Creates opportunities for students to enter "on the job training" or to get the job, and ensures that "Program's" standards and activities are relevant to the current and emerging needs of Businesses and Industries locally and in the State of Ohio
  •  Attends IT Programs Departmental instructional and informational meetings and "training/cross training" sessions
  •  Performs other duties as assigned by IT and Cybersecurity Programs Coordinator
  •  Professional demeanor, flexibility to meet the changing needs of the students
  •  Staying current with the technology changes in their respective areas of expertise.

  Required Qualifications:
  •  Minimum of five years of proven professional, practical, paid career experience in any of the following areas (or the combination of any of the following):
    1. IT Network Infrastructure Deployment, Operation, and Maintenance;
    2. Technical Support and Help Desk;
    3. Hardware deployment and maintenance;
    4. Cloud Operation (AWS, and/or Azure, and/or GCP);
    5. General Cybersecurity;
    6. Software/Application development
    7. Scripting in any of the following languages: Python, JavaScript; Powershell; Ruby; PHP; Perl; Bash
  • Post-secondary teaching experience or corporate training experience is preferred
  • Valid Licensure/Permit by the Ohio Department of Education as an Adult Education Instructor
  • Any combination of the following Current or Recent Industry Certifications:
CompTIA: IT Fundamentals, A+, Network +, Server+, Linux+, LPIC-1, Security+ (or CySA+), Cloud Essentials (or Cloud+) Cisco: CCNA                                                                                 
Microsoft: Azure Fundamentals                                                               
AWS:       AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner                                                                                
 
  • Adheres to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.  Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check after job offer is made.
  • Maintains compliance with Board policies and other applicable procedures/guidelines
  Duties:
  • Classroom instruction/facilitation
  • Skills/objectives demonstrations
  • Assisting students with certification exams preparation
  • Course content revision to reflect on the changes in Certification requirements and the content of the courses as they imposed by respective Certification authorities/bodies (i.e. CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco)
  •  Participating in development of future courses and curriculum.
  •  Other duties as assigned by the IT and Cybersecurity Programs
  Location:
  • Warren County Career Center, Lebanon, OH
  Salary and work schedule:
  • $30.17 per hour 
  • Monday-Thursday evenings up to 24 hours per week. If necessary, make up classes on Friday evenings.
