As the Irrigation Technician, you will perform testing, maintenance, adjustments, audits, repairs, and the installation of irrigation systems managed by TriMet. In addition, as requested, you'll perform various landscape maintenance duties, including plant, lawn, bed, and swale care.


Duties include ensuring work quality and adherence to established TriMet policies and procedures and performing various tasks relative to the assigned areas of responsibility as required. You will also operate motor vehicles and a variety of construction and maintenance equipment, and perform related work as required.

Serve as a good steward of TriMet by regularly utilizing our transit system to maintain a strong and current understanding of customers' experiences and of TriMet's product and service offerings.


1. Perform maintenance, repairs, and installation of irrigation systems. Perform irrigation system Spring Turn on and Fall shut down as designated. Operate clocks (120V, Solar, Battery Powers) and valves for sprinklers as assigned and directed by the Assistant Manager, Landscape.
2. Adjust irrigation controllers, valves, and heads to maximize plant health and water conservation.
3. Program and adjust both "Smart" and "Standard" irrigation controllers, including Rainbird, Rainbird Maxi-com, Hunter, Toro, DIG, and other locally used brands.
4. Repair damaged landscape beds, plants, lawns, and irrigation to pre-damaged conditions.
5. Maintain, prune, plant, transplant, fertilize, irrigate, and hand-water trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals.
6. Maintain and manage preventive maintenance. Provide work status reports. Inform Assistant Manager, Landscape of potential changes in work schedules, equipment, system malfunctions, and labor production concerns. Carry out all assigned work in a timely manner.
7. Order and maintain parts and material inventory. Initiate purchase requisitions and document purchases in reports to the Assistant Manager, Landscape.
8. Monitor maintenance activities to ensure compliance with work schedules, safety, quality, and standard operating procedures.
9. Respond to emergencies as needed per WWA (Working and Wage Agreement).
A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is required.
Three (3) years of employment with a licensed commercial landscape and irrigation company in foreperson capacity or above are required.
A license with the Department of Agriculture to safety perform spray duties is preferred.
And/Or
Status as a Licensed Landscape and Irrigation Professional in the state of Oregon with good standing and ability to maintain the annual requirements of training is preferred.
Possession of a Class C driver's license with a good driving record is required. Type of Position/Grade/FLSA
Union, Non-Exempt, Regular full-time. Wage: $38.84 per hour. Wage will be in accordance with the current Working and Wage Agreement.
