This position has telework options and is currently a full-time remote position. This position is classified as a full-time position (40 hours a week). Work outside of regular business hours may be required. Travel to other work locations may be required. This position performs special projects and other duties as assigned. Attendance at in-office meetings in the Austin area may be expected.
Develops, maintains, and continuously improves job aids and other training material to assist agency staff with creation of EIR.
Performs testing and validation on EIR to confirm compliance with accessibility standards.
Create WCAG test plans and test scenarios of new products and upgrades to existing products.
Consults with and provides training and support to agency program ant to ensure EIR produced in such areas is accessible.
Collaborate with the development team to produce WCAG compliant designs.
Assists with identification of EIR that is not compliant with accessibility standards.
Conducts remediation work of EIR to ensure accessibility compliance.
Works with the agency Accessibility Coordinator to design and implement accessibility initiatives, including a regular Accessibility Workgroup.
Assists with documentation of testing processes, procedures, resources and schedules to validate EIR for compliance with accessibility policies.
Coordinates and/or provides accessibility training to agency staff.
Works with the agency Accessibility Coordinator to document accessibility exception requests.
Evaluates new software and hardware (e.g., validating Vendor requirements and offerings documents such as RFPs, etc.)
Provide support for the agency Accessibility Coordinator by assisting in planning and design for accessibility activities such as the Accessibility Steering Committee.
Performs related work as assigned.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws relating to accessibility standards including but not limited to Section 508, 1 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) §206 and §213 and Texas Government Code 2054 as well as subsequent updates thereof.
In depth working knowledge of the W3C’s WCAG, v2.1 and above, and the ability to use WCAG to diagnose and remediate accessibility problems to at least “AA” level.
Knowledge of Department of Family and Protective Services programs and operations.
Ability to use various accessibility applications (Sort Site®, Adobe® Suite, JAWS®, Zoom Text®, WAVE®, etc.)
Skill in using the Microsoft (MS) Office Suite; especially MS Project®, PowerPoint®, SharePoint®, and Visio® as well as project planning software (e.g., MS Excel or Project).
Ability to analyze and solve complex and difficult problems of accessibility.
Ability to coordinate accessibility discussions with stakeholders including diagnosing and communicating accessibility issues, or similar function.
Knowledge of quality management systems, the process approach to quality management, business process improvement and management.
Skill in meeting facilitation and preparing and delivering presentations for meetings involving cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Ability to raise awareness of accessibility across the organization, as well as building relationships and winning allies with stakeholders across the organization.
Ability to develop effective data collection tools such as surveys, questionnaires, and interviews.
Ability to work independently.
Advanced communications skills with both electronic and print communication especially communicating complex concepts with simplicity in a variety of formats.
Ability to communicate with all team members and stakeholders; technical teams and customers; working in a team setting.

Department of Homeland Security Section 508 Trusted Tester Certification Version 5 (TTV5)
Graduation from an accredited four-year university or college with major coursework in communications, political science, public administration, information technology, business, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field; equivalent experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.
At least two (2) years of accessibility testing experience
Documented experience in accessibility analysis or compliance roles
Prefer knowledge of accessibility best practices in HTML 5 (Including the ARIA specification), CSS 3, and JavaScript.
Prefer knowledge of software procurement processes and review of vendor accessibility documentation (VPATs, ACRs, Test Reports).
