IP ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

With a focus on fostering creativity, protecting innovation, and safeguarding our clients’ valuable assets, we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled IP Associate Attorney to join our team. This attorney will have the opportunity to continue growing their practice while benefitting from an already established client base. A successful candidate will have at least 5+ years of experience as a licensed patent attorney with a particular focus on patent preparation and prosecution.

JOB SUMMARY:

As an IP Associate Attorney at Chambliss Law, you will play a key role in providing comprehensive legal counsel to our clients in matters related to IP. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IP law, excellent research and analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic legal team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting thorough legal research on IP issues mainly focusing on patent and trademark law.
  • Drafting and preparing legal documents, including IP-related agreements, legal briefs, and memoranda.
  • Preparing, filing, and prosecting patent, trademark, copyright applications to issuance, including developing appropriate response strategies, preparing, and filing responses to patent and trademark refusals, and interfacing with representatives of the United States Patent & Trademark and Copyright offices.
  • Advising and counseling clients on IP protection and enforcement strategies.
  • Managing, overseeing, and maintaining IP portfolios.
  • Conducting due diligence for IP and business transactions.
  • Staying up-to-date with changes in IP laws and regulations.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • 5+ years of experience in IP law, with a particular focus on patents and patent prosecution.
  • Experience in handling IP litigation is a plus.
  • Strong research, legal writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Able to problem solve, resolve, close issues and assist staff and colleagues with resolving issues that arise.
  • Skilled at meeting strict deadlines under significant time pressure.
  • Ability to manage time and resources effectively and independently, and balance conflicting priorities.

Education Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, chemical, computer/software)
  • Has passed the Patent Bar
  • Admission to at least one state bar in the relevant jurisdiction and the ability to seek admission in Tennessee.
