Job description

Our Social Media Intern will work with our Digital Media Manager to develop content and execute the strategic vision for all Social Media channels for the Iowa Wild. The Social Media intern will assist in creating content for all the team’s Social Media channels, engaging with fans, implementing Social Media trends, and attending team events to support coverage. This intern will be required to work events, nights and weekends as needed.

As our Social Media Intern, YOU WILL:

  • Manage Digital Platform Content. Seven social channels + multiple events + hundreds of guests = limitless digital content opportunities. Your passion and proficiency with Social Media platforms and familiarity with the use of photos, videos, articles and user generated content to engage and grow our various social channels is paramount.You will work with our Digital Media Manager to develop and execute strategic plans supporting events and initiatives on and off our campus. Knowledge of social content management systems is a plus.
  • Schedule content for our social accounts.You have exceptional writing and editing skills with a knack for telling succinct and compelling stories. You’re quick to capitalize on Social Media trends, interact with others on various platforms and produce and share content in real-time. You’ll have the opportunity to develop content for the Iowa Wild’s various social channels, including TikTok, X, Facebook, Instagram and more.
  • Attend events. No two days are the same on and off of our campus and the pace of the day can shift in a nanosecond. You will attend community events, player appearances, home games and more. You are self-directing, self-motivating, and able to work with a diverse group of people. Short deadlines don’t scare you, and you are able to multitask and handle a large number of variables with the best of them.

YOU ARE A:

  • Digital Innovator. Digital media is your jam and your experience in social platforms and content creation are keys to unlocking our platforms for new audiences and revenue opportunities. You have a natural acumen for detail and accuracy along with an eye for effective and creative layouts that move the needle with our audiences and demographics.
  • Creative Communicator. You excel at communicating a highly targeted message to a consumer in need. You can craft a story that will engage audiences on an emotional level. Supreme command of written, visual, and even non-verbal communication comes easily to you. Beyond customer reach, you must also be able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. You’re interested in sharing knowledge about data and results from your channels to help inform sales and marketing strategy.
  • Self-Starter. You understand historical, current, and future trends in the Social Media space. This knowledge will make you one of our most trusted advisors on how to reach our various audiences.You will be part of a high-achieving team and actively participate in strategy and planning of key communications, publicity events, marketing and promotional efforts supporting upcoming events and initiatives.

THE FINE PRINT:

  • 1+ years of Social Media experience preferred, to include capturing and posting engaging content on platforms like TikTok, X, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Experience using Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere Pro in Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communication, Film/Digital cinematography, Creative Writing or similar fields is highlypreferred.
  • Editing photos and video content using Premier Pro, Photoshop and/or Lightroom is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cameras/iPhone videos is required.
  • Experience using Social Media scheduling services such as Agorapulse, Sprout Social, and/or Hootsuite is a plus.
  • Experience using a project management system such as Lytho is a plus.
  • A strong understanding of the sport of hockey is strongly preferred.
  • Able to support  work on some early mornings, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays.
