Job Description:
The Investment Operations Director oversees Investment Operations of investments in all Intermountain investment portfolios of IHC Health Services, Inc.; IHC Pension Plan Directed Trust; Intermountain Retiree Welfare Benefit Trust; SelectHealth, Inc, SCL Health, Inc. and various affiliated and non-affiliated Foundation Portfolios. This individual also assists external auditors with valuations and audit on all asset classes. This is a system-wide role that interacts with all levels of the organization and reports to the VP and Chief Investment OfficerThe Investment Operations Director oversees movement of cash within custodial bank accounts in accordance with cash control policies and directs custodial banking relationships. The Directors works directly with Custodians to manage trust account structure, evaluate incremental services, coordinate investment transactions and account documentation, approve account reconciliation, ensure timely completion of corporate actions, and facilitate implementing other custodial services as warranted.
The position directs use of the Investment Contract Resource Management System and establishes metrics to measure data integrity and appropriate tagging of information and implements portfolio performance and risk reporting functionality within these third-party systems. Directs contract matters with investment managers including coordinating legal reviews with outside legal counsel. Coordinates contract execution, side letter negotiations, contract amendments and disclosures and oversees contract terms and ensure Intermountain receives the benefits negotiated.
The position directs global account renewals, power of attorney executions, use of translation services for foreign contracts and oversees receipt of K-1’s and reviews international tax information and tax filings. Reviews operational due diligence questionnaires and standardized compliance risk reports for new investment managers and periodically reviews operational due diligence reports that describe investment manager trade processes, business risk management and compliance. Review regulatory filings (i.e., ADV2, 408(b)(2) disclosures) and implement compliance systems for on-going oversight. Coordinates requests by auditors, accounting, and tax department to complete investment testing, confirmations, ownership limits, SOC 1 testing and tax filings as requested. Assists department leaders on projects and works on department wide projects to ensure deadlines are met.
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated experience and expertise in Investment Operations management, contract management, legal analysis, operational risk or middle/back office, or related financial management in a role requiring coordination with legal counsel.
Experience and expertise working with regulatory filings and risk reporting.
Demonstrated effective project management skills, with a high degree of accuracy, and sound decision making with limited supervision.
Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, and e-mail and scheduling applications.
Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.
Certified Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designations(s).
Six years of experience working in Investment Operations management, contract management, legal analysis, operational risk or middle / back office, or related financial management in a role requiring coordination with legal counsel.
Three years in a leadership or supervisory role.
