Position Summary

Investment Operations Analyst helps to oversee the investment activities of Bechtel’s retirement plans (Trust & Thrift (T&T), Foundation, BISRP, VEBA, etc), working closely with the plan's investment consultant and custodian to monitor performance, liquidity and ensures seamless Investment Operations. The role is expected to work with internal (finance, HR, legal, accounting) and external stakeholders (asset mgrs., custodian, recordkeeper). The successful candidate will contribute new ideas and solutions for reporting analytics and materials for various Bechtel retirement plans and assists with complex service provider evaluations and negotiations. This position reports to the Retirement Plans Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist and co-lead various investment-related projects and activities, such as investment manager searches, Requests for Information or Requests for Proposals, restructure/implementation and help with negotiations with service providers
  • Build and maintain relationships with all service providers and investment managers for various retirement plans
  • Day-to-day management of custodial and trustee activities, ensuring review and maintenance of optimal liquidity within white label funds (rebalance policy and changes to target bands). Responsible for required documentation and reconciliation of cash flows related to rebalancing and manager/fund transitions
  • Monitor and track performance of managers to ensure strategic alignment to Investment Policy Statement and watchlist and resolve any operational issues that arise across various retirement plans
  • Prepare trading and cash transfer instructions for portfolio rebalancing when needed to ensure compliance to policy targets. Coordinate timing of cash flows with the custodian and others
  • Generate reporting packages and presentation materials for various committees
  • Working with the T&T Plan trustee and investment managers for various daily, monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc processes and reporting, accurately and on time
  • Manage preparation of financial statements and required data (schedule C, H, QNEC) needed for audit processes
  • Assist in the management of Bechtel Foundation to ensure liquidity and projections are aligned with ongoing investment strategies

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

 

Level One:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or other quantitative disciplines and 6+ years of relevant finance experience.

 

Level Two:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or other quantitative disciplines and 6+ years of relevant finance experience.

 

Additional Qualifications

  • CFA certificate or CFA candidate preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and solid proficiency in Microsoft suite of products
  • 6+ years of experience in the finance/accounting field
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and familiarity with financial/investment terms
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication
  • Self-motivated, can work with minimum supervision and manage deliverables within strict deadlines
  • Technology-focused candidates preferred
