Investment Associate – CEI Ventures.

At CEI Ventures, we are looking for a team member with knowledge and interest in impact venture capital. In this position, you will assess and complete venture capital financing. This position will require the ability to evaluate business plans, do research and due diligence, and make informed judgments about the investment merits of early and growth-stage companies.

Some of the key responsibilities you will perform in this role:

• Analyze, evaluate, and work with staff to negotiate and develop investments for Coastal Venture's current funds with a focus on the social return on investment.
• Provide fundraising and general investment consultation, advisory, and management services concerning the Funds’ investments in capital stock, notes, and other securities following the Funds’ financial objectives and social impact criteria.
• Work on valuation, social impact, and quarterly reporting.
• Assist with the filing of Community Development Financial Institution (“CDFI”) Applications.
• Represent CVI at meetings and events relating to entrepreneurship and growth company equity investment.

• A minimum of one year in venture capital investing with a broad industry focus or related experience focusing on the social return on investment.
• A bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field.
• Strong financial analysis and valuation skills; ability to interpret financial statements.
• Experience or familiarity with entrepreneurship or investment in communities overlooked by traditional venture capital, such as entrepreneurs who identify as women or people of color or who are in rural regions.
• Demonstrated project/financial management and valuation skills.
• Ability to prioritize ongoing and new projects as well as conduct research and gather information.
• Diverse perspectives and approaches, and enthusiasm to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds, sectors, and identities, which allow you to foster strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Demonstrated use of systematic abilities, financial modeling skills, and working knowledge of financial and accounting theory.
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts.
• MBA or equivalent experience is a plus, as is familiarity with the business development or capital ecosystem supporting growth-oriented companies in the Northeast.

Other details:

The compensation range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000 a year. The pay range indicates the minimum and maximum we would offer for a qualified candidate, dependent on professional experience, skillset, and qualifications.

This is a full-time position with competitive benefits and time off. Compensation also includes profit sharing and a 5% retirement contribution. This position is based out of our offices in Brunswick, ME; the CVI team is currently working on a hybrid schedule of two days in the office, and three days at home, Other hybrid arrangements may be considered
