The Role:
General Motors Asset Management is looking for an ambitious, self-driven candidate to join the team. This team member will be a key participant in the day-to-day plan-level investment oversight of defined benefit pension plans sponsored by GM and certain affiliates in the U.S. and other countries. This team member will also participate in monitoring and managing relationships for the plans’ portfolio of alternative investments (hedge funds, real estate, private equity). A successful candidate will play a vital role in the strategic investment and de-risking initiatives of GM pension plans. This position requires considerable interaction with various internal departments such as GM’s Treasurer’s Office, Employee Benefits, Legal, Tax, Accounting as well as with external advisors and service providers (e.g., investment managers and consultants, actuaries, trustees, record keepers). This role requires a high level of accuracy, creativity, and initiative. The following key elements describe the basic duties and responsibilities of the position and are not all-inclusive:
What You'll Do:
Support plan level oversight, including monitoring plan funded status, liquidity, and risk posture, develop and execute rebalancing plans as needed
Assist with evaluating the impact of various asset class and corporate decisions on an overall pension plan metrics
Support periodic asset-liability management studies and portfolio analysis
Aid in the development and enhancement of pension investing and de-risking strategies worldwide
Assist with reports/ presentations to the named fiduciary/ investment committee on a range of topics
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Undergraduate training in a quantitative discipline such as Finance or Economics
Relevant graduate work (e.g., MBA, MFE) or CFA preferred
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, intellectually curious
Knowledge of financial markets, portfolio theory and quantitative / statistical techniques for financial analysis (statistical techniques not required but a plus)
Strong written and verbal skills; ability to document and communicate findings effectively to the investment team
Superior knowledge of Excel required
Willingness to work in a team-oriented environment
Comfortable working on high-profile assignments/ under tight deadlines
Attention to detail, integrity, and passion for excellence
Ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage time effectively
Demonstrated ability to identify/implement efficiency and process improvements
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
The salary range for this role is ($83,800-$133,900). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
